  • Patent number: 10935053
Abstract: An electric motor-driven, rolling element screw linear actuator is presented which work in cooperation with an hydraulic actuator and share several components. This is achieved through the integration of a screw-driven integrated nut piston assembly. Combining the use of an electric screw driven actuator can also reduce the need for a redundant hydraulic system, resulting in the elimination of 50% of connections, valves, piping, pumps, filters etc., while still being 100% redundant. An additional advantage is that the two drive systems are technologically independent, and therefore will not both fail because of an identical component flaw or failure point. The systems may also be used at the same time if conditions require force in excess of that generated by the hydraulic actuator alone.

  • Patent number: 9388342
Abstract: An electric actuator is provided for operating an unheading valve of a coke drum. The electric actuator includes a driving element comprising a planetary roller screw for actuating the unheading valve. By using a planetary roller screw, rather than hydraulics for the driving element, the electric actuator of the present invention can be used in place of hydraulic actuators while still providing sufficient power and reliability for use with an unheading valves of a coke drum.

    Assignee: Delta Valve, LLC
Inventors: Christopher Orino, Ruben F. Lah
  • Patent number: 8851451
Abstract: The present invention features a coke drum de-heading system. The de-header valve is equipped with a valve body, a gate, a transmission system and an actuator. Actuation of the valve closure functions to open and close the de-header valve.

  • Publication number: 20130284583
Abstract: The present invention extends to an electric actuator for operating an unheading valve of a coke drum. The electric actuator includes a driving element comprising a planetary roller screw for actuating the unheading valve. By using a planetary roller screw, rather than hydraulics for the driving element, the electric actuator of the present invention can be used in place of prior art hydraulic actuators while still providing sufficient power and reliability for use on unheading valves of a coke drum.
