    Abstract: The present document is directed to detoxification of trichothecenes using a method involving trichothecene epoxide ring opening. In particular, the present document discloses the detoxification of a trichothecene by reaction with a thiol containing compound under conditions where the pH is equal to or higher than one pH unit less than the pKa of a thiol group of the thiol containing compound.
