  • Patent number: 6983074
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are used to compress a true color image in such a way that the compressed image may be decompressed by a decompression method according to a dictionary-based compression technique. A color table defines a mapping from true colors to index color values. A set of zero or more candidate strings for a current pixel in the image is identified in a compression dictionary. Each candidate string corresponds to a string of pixels in the image, with the last pixel of the string corresponding to the current pixel. Each candidate string approximately matches the corresponding image pixel string. If the set of candidate strings for the current pixel is empty, one of the candidate strings for the previous current pixel is selected, and a code for the selected string is added to a compressed representation of the image.

  • Patent number: 6964017
Abstract: A system and method of creating interactive visual content in which base visual content, a selection of a trigger event associated with the base visual content, and intermediate visual content are received as an input. Viewing visual content derived from the base visual content is automatically generated. The viewing visual content can be displayed by a viewing application executing on a computer. A set of regions of the interactive visual content in which swap visual content is to be displayed by the viewing application when the trigger event occurs is automatically generated. For example, regions of the viewing visual content that are to be replace by the swap visual content when the trigger event occurs can be identified. Also, the swap visual content is automatically generated from the intermediate visual content.

  • Patent number: 6728398
Abstract: A method and apparatus, including a computer program product, implementing techniques for creating an indexed-color image from a direct-color image. The techniques include receiving a color lookup table and an associative data structure. The color lookup table comprises an indexed list of direct color values. For each pixel of the indexed-color image, the techniques include performing a lookup operation in the associative data structure to determine whether a corresponding direct color value was previously associated with an index value. If the lookup operation yields a positive result, then the associated index value is used as the pixel value. Otherwise, an entry in the color lookup table is selected for the corresponding direct color value of the pixel, the index value of the selected entry is used as the pixel value, and the index value of the selected entry is associated with the corresponding direct color value in the associative data structure.
