  • Patent number: 7250548
Abstract: An absorbent article may define a front region, a rear region, and a crotch region intermediate the front and rear regions. The article may include an outercover, a liner and an absorbent assembly front portion disposed intermediate the outercover and the liner in the front region. The article may also include an absorbent assembly rear portion disposed intermediate the outercover and the liner in the rear region and at least partially spaced from the absorbent assembly front portion to provide a first gap. The article further includes a temperature change member disposed in the first gap.

  • Patent number: 7160281
Abstract: An absorbent article for personal wear has an outer cover, a bodyside liner adapted for contiguous relationship with the wearer's skin, and an absorbent structure disposed between the liner and the outer cover. The absorbent structure is secured to at least one of the liner and the outer cover within a securement zone. A central portion of the securement zone is disposed generally within a central region of the article and at least one outer portion of the securement zone is disposed longitudinally outward of the central portion thereof.

  • Publication number: 20040254549
Abstract: A personal wear article capable of alerting a wearer to the wearer's release of liquid body exudates. The article includes an absorbent structure and a wetness indicator adapted to receive said liquid body exudates. The wetness indicator stiffens as it absorbs the liquid body exudates and applies a tactile sensation against the wearer's skin. The wetness indicator is positioned relative to a portion of the absorbent structure having an absorbent capacity gradient such that the absorbent capacity of the absorbent structure increases as the absorbent structure extends generally from the position of the wetness indicator in a direction generally away from the position of the wetness indicator. In another embodiment, the article includes a temperature change agent responsive to the liquid body exudates to change the temperature of the liquid body exudates to thereby facilitate a temperature change sensation against the wearer's skin.

  • Publication number: 20040127868
Abstract: An absorbent article is provided having a chassis with a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region extending longitudinally between the front and back waist regions. An absorbent body structure extends longitudinally generally from the front waist region to the back waist region. Longitudinally extending leak guards are provided having a free laterally inward side and a laterally outward side attached to the chassis laterally outward of the absorbent body structure so as to define respective containment pockets along opposite lateral sides of the absorbent body structure. The leak guards are substantially elastomeric in a transverse direction along their longitudinal length.

  • Publication number: 20040102757
Abstract: A disposable absorbent pant article, and method for making such article are provided. The article includes a chassis wherein facings of front and back panels are bonded together at side seams so as to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the article. A waistband structure is attached to an edge portion of the front and back panels along a periphery of the waist opening and facings of the waistband structure are bonded with the front and back panel facings at the side seams. The waistband facings material is formed of a different material having a lower melting point as compared to the material of the front and back panel facings. In this manner, the waistband facings generally do not increase or decrease bond strength at the side seams.

  • Publication number: 20040102749
Abstract: An absorbent article is provided having a chassis with a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region extending between the front and back waist regions. At least one said regions being stretchable in at least one of a transverse direction and a longitudinal direction to render a desired degree of stretchability to the article. For any stretchable region wherein at least two materials are in frictional sliding contact upon the region being stretched, the materials have a coefficient of friction therebetween not greater than about 0.40.

  • Publication number: 20030125682
Abstract: A toilet training wetness indicator for alerting a wearer to urination and a garment incorporating such an element. The toilet training wetness indicator, which may be an insertable wetness indicator or integrated directly into a garment, such as training pants, comprises a liquid permeable enclosure having a liquid absorbent body enclosed therein. The liquid absorbent body absorbs liquid within the pants and applies hydraulic pressure to the enclosure upon absorption of a preselected amount of liquid. The enclosure limits expansion of the absorbent body so that the wetness indicator stiffens as liquid is absorbed. The wetness indicator has a first stiffness and is relatively pliable when dry and a second stiffness greater than the first stiffness upon absorption of the preselected amount of liquid.
