  • Publication number: 20150294660
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods for providing accurate and reliable compact sonar systems for mobile structures. In one embodiment, a sonar system includes a mounting bracket, a transducer support arm, and a pivoting mechanism pivotably coupling the transducer support arm to the mounting bracket such that, for forces acting on the transducer support arm that are less than a preselected kick-up level, the pivoting mechanism holds the transducer support arm against such forces and at a user selectable first angular position relative to the mounting bracket, and for forces acting on the transducer support arm that are equal to or greater than the preselected kick-up level, allows the transducer support arm to be moved by those forces to a second angular position relative to the mounting bracket.

  • Publication number: 20080064538
Abstract: A two-piece ball bat comprising a hollow barrel attached to a handle by a combination of mechanical interference and a layer of rigid adhesive interposed between the interior surface of the barrel and the exterior surface of the handle at a tapered junction. The rigid adhesive layer prevents any direct contact between the barrel and handle thereby eliminating the need to provide any mating features thereon and reducing complexity and cost of manufacture. In an alternative embodiment, glass shafting beads are added to the rigid adhesive compound to ensure even distribution of the adhesive compound, align the barrel and handle and ensure separation prior to curing.

  • Publication number: 20060185066
Abstract: Protective face masks and shields are configured so that interior surfaces are associated with visual characteristics based on a use environment. A face shield for a catcher's helmet includes an interior surface having three horizontal zones that are assigned colors, gray levels, color coordinates, or other characteristics based on playing surface characteristics. Upper, middle, and lower interior portions can be associated with blue, green, and brown, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20060063620
Abstract: An end configuration for a bat includes in one embodiment an end cap that has a base that is shaped to fit within the open end of the bat thereby to attach the end cap to the bat. The end cap also includes a convexly contoured end surface that is exposed when the end cap is attached to the bat. The end surface is roughened to reduce the aerodynamic drag when the bat is swung, thereby to increase the momentum of the bat for a given amount of force applied to swing the bat.

  • Patent number: 6593883
Abstract: A first signal and a second signal are detected. The first and second signals are transmitted according to a timing pattern. An arrival time is identified for the first and second signals. Based on the timing pattern and the estimated arrival times of the first and second signals, a set of parameters is derived that characterize a timing relationship between a first device (100) and a second device (200).

  • Patent number: 6086199
Abstract: Eyewear having easily removable lenses is provided with a frame that defines a first lens receiving recess on one side of a lens opening and a second lens receiving recess on a second side of the lens opening. Each lens has a first tab portion which corresponds with the first recess and a second tab portion which corresponds to the second recess and is mounted by placing the first tab portion in the first recess and the second tab portion in the second recess. Engagement between the respective tab portions and recesses maintains the lenses in the mounted position. To more securely lock each lens in position, a pivot member having a locking tab can be pivoted into a locking position in which the locking tab engages the lens.
