Patent number: 11957257Abstract: A mat includes a mat body defining an upper surface dimensioned for a user to stand on the upper surface. The upper surface is non-planar and includes at least one terrain feature defining the non-planarity. The terrain feature has a size that is on the order of magnitude of the size of the user's foot. Presenting this surface to the user may help remind him or her to move his or her feet to thereby adopt multiple poses, thereby preventing the user from maintaining any single pose for a fatigue-inducing duration.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2021Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: Ergodriven Inc.Inventors: Ryan Feeley, Christopher Perkins, Isaac Borowiec

Patent number: 11423193Abstract: An interface system generates interfaces for visualizing human-machine interactions including piping systems. The interface system receives, as input, parameters describing a first pipe data object and a second pipe data object. The pipe data objects can be diagrams representing physical piping in an industrial system. Using the parameters of the first and second pipe data objects, the system determines whether images of the pipes in the interface will overlap. When the system renders vector graphic images of the first pipe data object and the second pipe data object, the second pipe data object is rendered with markings that provide a visual indication that the two pipes overlap and are not connected. The interface system further enables a user to edit the piping diagram to combine the first and second pipe data objects into a single combined pipe data object and updates the rendered images for display.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2022Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: INDUCTIVE AUTOMATION, LLCInventor: Michael Christopher Perkins

Patent number: 9509244Abstract: An electric power generation system may be constructed of multiple similar generator modules arranged between a rotor and a stator. The rotor may be coupled to and/or integrated with a turbine that is configured to rotate in the presence of a fluid stream such as wind or water. Each generator module may have a rotor portion configured to generate a magnetic field having at least one characteristic that changes with respect to the rotational speed of the rotor. Each generator module may further have a stator portion configured to generate an alternating electric current responsive to the magnetic field. The generated electric current may be controlled by the stator portion of the generator module in order to magnetically control the rotational speed of the rotor and the turbine. Separation between the rotor and stator portions of the generator module may be magnetically maintained.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2014Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: UNIMODAL SYSTEMS, LLCInventors: John Lee Wamble, III, Christopher Perkins, John Cole, Clark Foster, Robert Baertsch

Publication number: 20160024403Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for a solar-driven chemical plant are disclosed. Some embodiments may include a solar thermal receiver to absorb concentrated solar energy from an array of heliostats and a solar-driven chemical reactor. This chemical reactor may have multiple reactor tubes, in which particles of biomass may be gasified in the presence of a carrier gas in a gasification reaction to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide products. High heat transfer rates of the walls and tubes may allow the particles of biomass to achieve a high enough temperature necessary for substantial tar destruction and complete gasification of greater than 90 percent of the biomass particles into reaction products including hydrogen and carbon monoxide gas in a very short residence time between a range of 0.01 and 5 seconds.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2015Publication date: January 28, 2016Inventors: Christopher Perkins, Zoran Jovanovic, Steven Strand, Courtland Hilton, Donna Kelley

Publication number: 20150376518Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for a solar-driven bio-refinery that may include a entrained-flow biomass feed system that is feedstock flexible via particle size control of the biomass. Some embodiments include a chemical reactor that receives concentrated solar thermal energy from an array of heliostats. The entrained-flow biomass feed system can use an entrainment carrier gas and supplies a variety of biomass sources fed as particles into the solar-driven chemical reactor. Biomass sources in a raw state or partially torrified state may be used, as long as parameters such as particle size of the biomass are controlled. Additionally, concentrated solar thermal energy can drive gasification of the particles. An on-site fuel synthesis reactor may receive the hydrogen and carbon monoxide products from the gasification reaction use the hydrogen and carbon monoxide products in a hydrocarbon fuel synthesis process to create a liquid hydrocarbon fuel.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2015Publication date: December 31, 2015Inventors: Zoran Jovanovic, Bryan Schramm, Christopher Perkins, Courtland M.
