  • Publication number: 20100134881
Abstract: The invention relates to an objective replacement device for a microscope, wherein the sample is located in a sample chamber and surrounded by an immersion medium within the sample chamber, means for positioning and aligning the sample relative to the focus of an objective being present, wherein the detection beam path is aligned horizontally, which is to say perpendicular to the direction of action of gravity. For an objective replacement device for a microscope of the type described above, according to the invention a device is provided for exchanging the objective, at the focus of which the sample is positioned and aligned, with at least another objective, the position and alignment of the sample within the sample chamber remaining the same.

  • Publication number: 20100091287
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for imaging a sample using a microscope, in particular a scanning microscope, in which the sample is illuminated with excitation light via an illuminating beam path, and light emitted from the sample is recorded via a detection beam path, wherein at least one adjustable beam splitter having an adjustable threshold wavelength is arranged in the detection beam path or/and in the illuminating beam path, and wherein light emitted from the sample is detected in at least one detection channel. According to the inventive method, for at least one predetermined sample region, a signal intensity of light detected in the at least one detection channel is recorded for a plurality of threshold wavelengths set at the adjustable beam splitter to obtain a signal/threshold-dependency of the predetermined sample region.

  • Publication number: 20090301114
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for transferring heat from a coolant to a fluid in a coolant recycling system, the apparatus including; a heat exchange region (9) through which the fluid flows such that heat is transferred from the coolant to the fluid and a recycling loop (13) for recycling the fluid flowing from the heat exchange region, whereby the fluid is cooled in the recycling loop before being returned to the heat exchange region.

  • Publication number: 20070219478
Abstract: An elongate flexible strap is adapted to be wrapped about a wearer's leg and pelvic region. The strap applies a torque to the leg, rotating the leg into a desired degree of external rotation. In a leg having an improperly aligned patella, it is believed that the external rotation improves lower extremity mechanics by aligning the patella within the trochlear groove.

  • Publication number: 20050122734
Abstract: An adverse weather headlamp assembly that comprises a foreground shield with two sides that taper up from a bottom portion to form a triangular shaped shield. The foreground shield can be movable between a blocking position and a pass-through position. In combination with a cutoff shield, the foreground shield reduces the amount of emitted light that can be reflected off of a wet or icy road in adverse weather conditions in order to reduce glare, while still allowing enough light to be emitted for the driver to adequately see the road.

  • Patent number: 6737412
Abstract: A synthetic nuclease resistant antisense oligodeoxynucleotide capable of selectively modulating expression of human tumor necrosis factor-alpha by targeting exon sequences flanking donor splice sites, thereby regulating expression of TNF-&agr; in a patient in need of such therapy is provided. In an embodiment either AS—ODN having the sequence set forth in SEQ ID No:4 or SEQ ID No:6 or a combination thereof can be used. The AS—ODN is administered either as the active ingredient in a pharmaceutical composition or by utilizing gene therapy techniques as an expression vector.

  • Patent number: 6341519
Abstract: In one embodiment, a gas-sensing probe for use in a combustor includes an elongated support member, a housing, a gas sensor and sensor wires. The housing is attached to an end of the support member, and the gas sensor is rigidly supported within the housing. In another embodiment, a gas-sensing probe for use in a combustor includes an elongated support member, a housing, and a gas sensor. The housing is removably attached to an end of the support member, and the gas sensor is disposed within the housing so that the gas sensor and housing are removable from the distal end of the support member as a unit. In another embodiment, a gas-sensing probe comprises an elongated support member, a gas sensor, and a calibration tube. The elongated support member has a proximal end and a distal end, and supports the gas sensor at the distal end thereof.
