  • Patent number: 11964895
Abstract: A method of forming a glass sheet comprises: (a) forming a ribbon of glass from molten glass with a pair of forming rollers; (b) reducing horizontal temperature variability of the ribbon of glass to be 10° C. or less across 80 percent of an entire width of the ribbon of glass before the ribbon of glass cools to a glass transition temperature; (c) controlling a cooling rate of the ribbon of glass while the ribbon of glass moves vertically downward within a setting zone such that the ribbon of glass has a first average cooling rate before the ribbon of glass cools to the glass transition temperature and a second average cooling rate after the ribbon of glass cools to the glass transition temperature, the first average cooling rate being less than the second average cooling rate; and (d) separating a glass sheet from the ribbon of glass.

  • Publication number: 20240100609
Abstract: A holesaw system comprises a holesaw including a base and a generally cylindrical wall with a proximal end coupled to the base and a distal end with a cutting edge; a pilot drill bit including a front cutting tip, a rear shank portion, and an intermediate portion between the front cutting tip and the rear shank portion; and an arbor coupleable to the holesaw and to the pilot drill bit. The arbor is configured to be operable in a first mode in which the holesaw and the pilot drill bit are rotatable in unison to form a hole in a workpiece and in a second mode in which the pilot drill bit is rotatable independently of the holesaw to remove a plug of material from the holesaw.

  • Publication number: 20240091857
Abstract: An apparatus for producing metallic powders from molten feedstock includes a heating source for melting a solid feedstock into a molten feed, and a crucible for containing the molten feed. A liquid feed tube is also provided to feed the molten feed as a molten stream. A plasma source delivers a plasma stream, with the plasma stream being adapted to be accelerated to a supersonic velocity and being adapted to then impact the molten stream for producing metallic powders. The feed tube extends from the crucible to a location where a supersonic plasma plume atomizes the molten stream. The plasma source includes at least two plasma torches provided with at least one supersonic nozzle aimed towards the molten stream. The multiple plasma torches are disposed symmetrically about the location where the supersonic plasma plumes atomize the molten stream, such as in a ring-shaped configuration.

  • Publication number: 20220015373
Abstract: Dried and stable biological compositions may have high colony-forming units. Such compositions may include (1) a substrate and (2) micro-organism(s) loaded onto the surface of the substrate, wherein the composition has a total moisture content of about 0.01 wt. % to about 15 wt. %, preferably, about 0.01 wt. % to about 8 wt. %, preferably, about 3 wt. % to about 8 wt. %, preferably, about 5 wt. % to about 8 wt. %, still preferably, selected from 3 wt. %, 5 wt. % and 7 wt. %.

  • Patent number: 8647653
Abstract: A powdery composition, comprising: a) core-shell particles having a shell of hydrophobic or hydrophobized particles; and b) a carrier powder comprising a carrier and at least one of an at least partially water soluble liquid and a water reactive substrate reversibly bound to the carrier by at least one of the capillary action, absorption and adsorption is provided. The core-shell particles have a core, comprising: water; and 0 to 10 wt. % of a total core weight of a dissolved or emulsified material. The carrier comprises at least one material selected from the group consisting of silica, a silica-metal mixed oxide, phyllosilicate, starch, hollow glass spheres, nylon, sugar, cyclodextrines and polysaccharides, and a weight ratio of the carrier powder to the core-shell particles is from 1/1 to 1/9.
