Patent number: 6989104Abstract: A fuel filter assembly for a combustion engine, including a two-part filter housing, a filter element, and a restriction sensor, including an external visual display apparatus for indicating when to replace the filter element. As fluid pressure increases within the filter housing, the visual display apparatus correspondingly displays the increase in pressure. When the pressure sensor detects an amount of pressure at or in excess of a predetermined amount, the visual display apparatus indicates replacement of the filter element. A modified embodiment including an electronic pressure sensor and a remote display unit is also described.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2003Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Honeywell International, Inc.Inventors: Christopher R. Patent number: 6264833Abstract: A coolant filter kit, for attaching in-line to a coolant hose of a combustion engine, includes a fluid conduit member and a coolant filter apparatus. The fluid conduit member has a stem and two opposed branches connected to the stem, with an inlet formed in a first branch thereof, and an outlet formed in a second branch. The fluid conduit member further has a partition in the stem thereof, substantially separating a first flow chamber from a second flow chamber therewithin. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a limited amount of fluid is allowed to flow directly from the inlet to the outlet without passing through the filter apparatus. The filter apparatus includes a hollow housing defining a filter chamber therein. A porous cylindrical filter element is disposed in the filter chamber of the housing. Optionally, the filter apparatus may include a slow-dissolving tablet or plug for releasing a supplemental coolant additive into coolant over time.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1998Date of Patent: July 24, 2001Assignee: AlliedSignal Inc.Inventors: Christopher R.
