Abstract: Systems and techniques to provide a graphical user interface. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes receiving in a web browser executing on a client a representation of the graphical user interface for the web application from a server, where the representation includes a description of at least one boundary element, the at least one boundary element including within a boundary established by the boundary element at least one of text, a graphic or a control element; receiving in the web browser services, the services specified in a scripting language; executing at least one of the services at the client to detect a web browser document object model and rendering the at least one boundary element displayed within a boundary of the web browser window.
