Patent number: 10543839Abstract: A cruise control system for a vehicle having an engine and a power take-off throttle control capable of controlling the speed of the engine includes a cruise control device in communication with a speedometer of the vehicle and the power take-off throttle control. The cruise control device includes a processor configured for receiving a user selection of a set ground speed, determining a current ground speed of the vehicle, via communication with the speedometer, comparing the current ground speed with the set ground speed, and taking further action to maintain the current ground speed close to the set ground speed. The further action taken by the processor may include transmitting an acceleration signal or deceleration signal to the power take-off throttle control to increase or decrease a speed of the engine if the current ground speed is determined to be lower or higher than the set ground speed.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2015Date of Patent: January 28, 2020Assignee: Shem, LLCInventors: William L. Dolesh, Eric Amback, Gerhard Engelbrecht, Christopher Rood

Patent number: 10055907Abstract: A vehicle that includes a chassis, wheels, a drivetrain including an engine and a transmission, and a brake system. The vehicle also has a vehicle control system that includes controllers for the engine, the transmission controller, and the brake system, a vehicle network connected to the controllers to permit communication to and from these components, and a primary vehicle controller connected to the network and configured to communicate with the controllers. The vehicle further includes a vehicle diagnostic system that is connected to the network and configured to communicate with the various controllers. The diagnostic system is configured to operate in a diagnostic mode, in which the diagnostic system is configured to display diagnostic information from one or more of the controllers. The diagnostic system may further be configured to operate in a display mode, where the vehicle diagnostic system is configured to display operating information regarding the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2016Date of Patent: August 21, 2018Assignee: Shem, LLCInventor: Christopher Rood

Patent number: 9619949Abstract: The example embodiments may relate to a vehicle operator incentive system. In an example, the system may include a vehicle control system having a plurality of controllers, wherein the controllers are configured to communicate diagnostic messages via an internal communication network and wherein each of the diagnostic messages provides information about operation of a vehicle by an operator. The vehicle operator incentive system may include a vehicle diagnostic system communicatively coupled to the internal communication network and configured to: process the diagnostic messages to determine a plurality of measured parameters, award points based on the measured parameters, calculate a score for the operator based on the awarded points, and cause a user interface of the vehicle to display the operator score.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2015Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: SHEM, LLCInventor: Christopher Rood
