Patent number: 11972760Abstract: The present disclosure relates to detecting the use of fake voice command to activate microphones of smart devices. In one embodiment, sound characteristics associated with an audio signal from a microphone of smart device may be compared with other microphones of the smart device in order to detect fake voice commands. In another embodiment, sound characteristics associated with the audio signal from the microphone may be compared with a threshold range of stored sound characteristics in order to detect fake voice commands. In some embodiments, a controller may triangulate a position associated with a source of a sound in order to detect a fake voice command. In a further embodiment, a controller may verify that a user or associated electronic device are near a smart device to authorize a voice command.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2020Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Carlos J P Chavez, Sacha Melquiades De'Angeli, Oscar Guerra, David M. Publication number: 20240110831Abstract: A system for a high resolution optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) using various optical configurations to reduce polarization dependent loss (PDL) is disclosed. The system may include a birefringent element to receive an input optical beam. The birefringent element may then split the optical beam into at least two exit beams. The system may also include an optical configuration comprising at least one optical element. The optical configuration may receive the at least two exit beams from the birefringent element and transform at least one of the two exit beams using the at least one optical element to provide two parallel beams with parallel polarizations. The optical configuration may then output the two parallel beams with parallel polarizations to a downstream optical element, such as a diffraction grating, or other optical element.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 13, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicant: VIAVI SOLUTIONS INC.Inventors: Driss TOUAHRI, Christopher Russell WAGNER, Joshua Benjamin Julius PHILIPSON

Publication number: 20240102575Abstract: An equalization shutoff valve includes a housing having an outward extending flange around an open end of the housing, retaining clips attached to the flange configured to engage a battery pack compartment, and piston guides disposed inside the housing; a piston having guide notches engaging the piston guides, and a first flow port; a spring disposed between the housing and the piston to urge the piston in a direction away from a closed end of the housing; and a locking tab cover attached to the housing with the piston inside the housing, and having a second flow port and locking tabs with clip ports. The housing is attached to the battery pack compartment through the retaining clips so that air flows from inside the battery pack compartment, and when pressure inside the housing increases, increased pressure pushes the spring and the piston to allow air to exit from the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: William Russell RHOADES, Christopher Keegan BULGER

Patent number: 11935384Abstract: The disclosed wearable device systems include several features for alerting and guiding persons who are approaching or near to potentially hazardous or high-risk conditions in their nearby environment. Sensor data from wearable devices (also referred to herein as “wearables”) are used to determine the presence of various unsafe environmental conditions and phenomenon, including dangerous terrain or other unusual conditions. The wearable would be used to warn a person, for example via auditory or haptic-based feedback, if the person is about to encounter an unsafe condition. In particular, the proposed systems can be of great benefit to the visually impaired, those persons with physical disabilities, or persons otherwise vulnerable to particular environmental conditions.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2023Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Yevgeniy Viatcheslavovich Khmelev, Christopher Russell, Gregory David Hansen, Nathan Lee Post, Ashley Raine Philbrick, Nolan Serrao, Ruthie D.
