Publication number: 20240341710Abstract: A curved compression element, such as a breast compression paddle, and imaging systems and methods for use with curved compression elements. A system may include a radiation source, a detector, and a curved compression element. Operations are performed that include receiving image data from the detector; accessing a correction map for the at least one compression paddle; correcting the image data based on the correction map to generate a corrected image data; and generating an image of the breast based on the corrected image data. The breast compression element generally has no sharp edges, but rather has smooth edges and transitions between surfaces. The breast compression paddle also includes a flexible material that spans a portion of a curved bottom surface of the breast compression paddle to define a gap. The flexible material may be a thin-film material such as a shrink wrap.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2024Publication date: October 17, 2024Applicant: Hologic, Inc.Inventors: Timothy R. Patent number: 12070313Abstract: Aspects of the current subject matter are directed to a sensor assembly of an analyte monitoring device including one or more microneedle arrays. Aspects are directed to components and architecture of a sensor assembly to implement power and processing aspects of a microneedle array-based continuous analyte monitoring device for the detection and measuring of an analyte. A source of a power-on event is determined, and the analyte monitoring device is transitioned to a mode that corresponds to the determined source. When a power-on event is determined to be a valid power-on event, the analyte monitoring device is transition to a mode that corresponds to a type of the valid power-on event.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2023Date of Patent: August 27, 2024Assignee: Biolinq IncorporatedInventors: Daniel Alonso-Soski, Anderson Micu, Yan Li, Christopher Griffith, Jennifer Ruth Walters Fuchs

Publication number: 20230225821Abstract: A tilted needle biopsy assembly is provided for mounting on an x-ray system. Because the biopsy needle is angled relative to at least one of the detector and the x-ray source, x-ray imaging may be performed during the biopsy procedure without interference by the biopsy device. The angled biopsy needle additionally allows improved access to the axilla and chest wall of the patient. The stereotactic biopsy device of the present invention may be coupled to any x-ray system, whether upright or prone, including but not limited to mammography systems, tomosynthesis systems, and combination mammography/tomosynthesis systems. The system flexibly supports the use of any mode of image capture (i.e., scout, two dimensional mammogram, three-dimensional reconstructed volume) for either or both target visualization and target localization. With such an arrangement, a needle biopsy assembly having improved patient coverage is provided for use with a variety of different x-ray imaging platforms.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2023Publication date: July 20, 2023Applicant: Hologic, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth DeFreitas, Ian Shaw, John LaViola, Kathleen Pickett, Nikolaos A. Publication number: 20230121488Abstract: A method of imaging a breast compressed with a foam paddle includes emitting an x-ray energy from an x-ray source towards the breast and the foam paddle having a plurality of upper markers and a plurality of lower markers, wherein the plurality of lower markers are movable relative to the upper markers. The x-ray energy is detected at a detector disposed opposite the breast from the x-ray source. An image of the compressed breast is generated based on the detected x-ray energy. At least one of the plurality of upper markers and at least one of the plurality of lower markers is identified in the image. A thickness of the compressed breast at a plurality of thickness locations is determined, wherein each of the plurality of thickness locations corresponds to at least one of the plurality of lower markers.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2021Publication date: April 20, 2023Inventors: Baorui REN, Kenneth DEFREITAS, Alan REGO, Christopher RUTH, Andrew P. Publication number: 20220071582Abstract: A method and system for producing tomosynthetic images of a patient's breast. An x-ray source that delivers x-rays through a breast immobilized and compressed between a compression paddle and a breast platform and form an image at a digital x-ray receptor panel. Multiple x-ray images are taken as the x-ray source and the receptor move relative to the immobilized breast. In one preferred embodiment, the x-ray source travels from ?15° to +15°. The source can travel in an arc around the breast while the receptor travels linearly while remaining parallel and at the same distance from the breast platform. The sets of x-ray image data taken at different angles are combined to form tomosynthetic images that can be viewed in different formats, alone or as an adjunct to conventional mammograms.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2021Publication date: March 10, 2022Inventors: Kenneth DeFreitas, Baorui Ren, Ian SHAW, Christopher RUTH, Andrew P.
