  • Patent number: 9156153
Abstract: A rotary tool includes a motor having an output shaft, the output shaft defining an axis of rotation. The motor is configured to rotate the output shaft in a first direction about the axis of rotation. An accessory tool retention mechanism is attached to a distal end portion of the output shaft and configured to releasably retain an accessory tool in alignment with the axis of rotation. A fan mechanism includes a plurality of fan blades attached to the accessory tool retention mechanism and extending radially outwardly therefrom. The plurality of fan blades are configured to move air forwardly in a direction that is generally parallel to the axis of rotation as the accessory tool retention mechanism is rotated in the first direction by the output shaft.
