  • Publication number: 20190191880
Abstract: A person support apparatus includes a support surface for supporting a person thereon. The support surface includes at least a seat and a backrest coupled together by a pivot assembly. In some embodiments, the pivot assembly includes a backrest slide bar mounted to the backrest and a seat slide bar mounted to the seat. The backrest and seat slide along their respective slide bars when the backrest pivots. A seat link is coupled to the seat and backrest slide bar, and a backrest link is coupled to the backrest and seat slide bar. The slide bars are coupled at their ends to each other. The pivot assembly creates a virtual pivot axis that, as the backrest pivots from an upright position to a reclined position, moves backward and upwardly. Elongate openings may be defined in the slide bars to support the slide bars on the seat and backrest, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20180122358
Abstract: A person support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, or the like, includes an active noise cancellation device configured to generate a noise cancelling sound wave that is designed to cancel a noise sound wave. The active noise cancellation device may include speakers and a microphone. In other embodiments, the person support apparatus includes a sound emitting component and a transmitter adapted to send out a notification signal prior to activation of the sound emitting component. The notification signal provides information about a characteristic of the sound to be emitted by the sound emitting device. The recipient of the notification signal may then use the signal to cancel the sound that is to be emitted. In some embodiments, the person support apparatus acts as a conduit for notification signals of upcoming sounds, receiving and forwarding such notification signals from and to other devices.

  • Publication number: 20180064589
Abstract: A modular patient support system for use in ambulating a patient across a floor, comprising a primary module and a secondary module. The primary module has a primary base and a primary deck arranged for movement relative to the primary base, and the primary deck defines a first patient support area. The secondary module has a secondary base adapted for movement along the floor relative to the primary base and a secondary deck arranged for movement relative to the secondary base. The modular patient support system is operable between a docked configuration where the secondary deck cooperates with the primary deck to define a second patient support area larger than the first patient support area, and an undocked configuration where the secondary module is spaced apart from the primary module to facilitate ambulation concurrent with the secondary module across the floor away from the primary module.

  • Publication number: 20180064592
Abstract: A patient support system comprises a patient support apparatus for patients. The patient support apparatus comprises a base and a litter supported by the base via a lift system. The litter comprises a seat section and a foot section movable relative to the seat section. The lift system comprises lift members. The lift system moves the litter from a first configuration in which the seat and foot sections are generally horizontal relative to a floor surface to a second configuration where the foot section is below the seat section and between the lift members. The patient support apparatus also comprises a mattress assembly integrated with the foot section to move with the foot section between the first and second configurations.

  • Publication number: 20180064591
Abstract: A patient mobility system for early patient ambulation. An ambulation device having a barrier is removably coupled to a patient support apparatus such that, in a coupled configuration, the barrier prevents patient egress from the patient support apparatus. The ambulation device configured to provide support to a patient during ambulation away from the patient support apparatus. Each of the patient support apparatus and the ambulation device can comprise a lift device operably controlled by a controller to maintain or control relative positioning of the patient support surface and the barrier in the coupled configuration. The lift device of the ambulatory device can comprise a gas spring having locking element. The ambulation device can comprise patient carrier removably coupled to a patient carrier mount. The patient carrier is configured to cooperate with the barrier to support the patient above a floor surface in a seated position.

  • Publication number: 20170172829
Abstract: A patient support system comprises a patient support apparatus for patients. The patient support apparatus comprises a base and a patient support surface supported by the base. The patient support apparatus also comprises side rails that move between raised and lowered positions. One or more actuators are coupled to each of the side rails. A controller communicates with the actuators to raise and lower the side rails, either without any manual assistance from the user, or with manual assistance from the user.

  • Publication number: 20140259412
Abstract: A compact patient support provides a full range of motion and function while optimizing compactness and achieving an improved “low height” position. Casters joined to the base of the support have a low profile and provide mechanical braking about a swivel axis and a rotational axis of the wheels. The low profile of the casters allows for a more compact base. The lift mechanism includes a lift actuator with the motor mounted on the upper of two stacked X-frames allowing for shorter cables and harnesses and allowing for a more compact folding of the X-frames when the support is in a lowered position thereby reducing bulk and contributing to the overall compactness of the patient support.
