  • Patent number: 8721600
Abstract: A delivery gun for discharging bone cement from a cartridge that includes a piston. The gun has a casing from which a drive rod and a disk extend. A drive assembly advances the drive rod and disk so that disk displaces the piston causing the discharge of cement. The drive assembly includes plural links that are pivotally connected to a trigger. The links are displaced in response to the manual displacement of a trigger. One of the links is configured to selectively engage the drive rod. When this particular link is engaged with the drive rod and displaced, the drive rod the drive rod is advanced at a first speed. When this link does not is not engaged with the drive rod, the drive rod is advanced by another link at a second speed.

  • Patent number: 8353622
Abstract: A cartridge in which bone cement is mixed and from which the cement is discharged. A blade with plural vanes is disposed in the cartridge for mixing the cement. A piston located in one end of the cartridge is actuated to push the mixed cement out of the cartridge. The blade has plural vanes, one for scraping cement off the side of the cartridge, one for scraping cement off the piston and one for scraping cement off the end of the cartridge opposite the end in which the piston is normally located. The blade is collapsible so that when the piston is actuated the blade compresses to allow the cement in the cartridge to be pushed out.

  • Patent number: 8147451
Abstract: A fluid delivery system is provided for delivering fluid to a patient. The system comprises a reservoir for storing the fluid to be delivered to the patient and a fluid discharge device operatively coupled to the reservoir for delivering the fluid from the reservoir to the patient. A controller is configured to operate the fluid discharge device. An input device is in electronic communication with the controller and configured for setting at least one operating parameter of the system. The controller operates the fluid discharge device based on the at least one operating parameter and locks the system after the at least one operating parameter is set such that the at least one operating parameter is unable to be modified. A display is in electronic communication with the controller to at least periodically display a code for resetting the at least one operating parameter. The code is altered at least once during use.

  • Publication number: 20040267272
Abstract: A bone cement mixing and delivery system is provided. The system includes a mixing cartridge for receiving liquid and powder components of bone cement, a mixing device for mixing the components, and a delivery gun for discharging the bone cement from the mixing cartridge. The mixing cartridge comprises a cylinder having proximal and distal ends with a cylinder wall extending between the ends. A piston is locked at the distal end by a locking member that includes a pair of locking tabs protruding into slots in the cylinder wall. With the piston in the locked position, the mixing device, e.g., a mixing shaft and blade, mixes the components. After mixing, the cartridge is placed in the delivery gun and release buttons on the locking member are engaged by a release mechanism on the delivery gun to release the piston from the locked position.
