Abstract: A device for generating a video output data stream has a first and a second signal input for receiving a first and a second video source data stream, a processor configured to provide the video output data stream based on the first video source data stream at a first point in time and, by means of a switching process, based on the second video source data stream at a second point in time which follows the first point in time. In addition, the device has a control signal output for transmitting a control command to a video source from which the first or second video source data stream is received. The control command has an instruction to the video source for applying a transition effect which is temporally located between an image of the first and an image of the second video source data stream in the video output signal.

Abstract: An apparatus for generating a video output data stream by switching from a first video input data stream to a second video input data stream is provided. The apparatus receives encoded video frames of a first video input data stream, each of which is either an encoded intra-frame or an encoded inter-frame. One or several video frames of the first video input data stream are output as one or several encoded video frames of the video output data stream. A switching command instructing to switch to the reception of encoded video frames of the second video input data stream is received, each of the encoded video frames of the second video input data stream being either an encoded intra-frame or an encoded inter-frame. After reception of the switching command, a request command is transmitted requesting the transmission of one of the encoded intra-frames of the second video input data stream.

Abstract: A setting device for setting data rates in a video camera system includes video cameras each configured to generate a video data stream having a settable data rate, wherein the video data streams can be delivered to a user terminal via a data network, whereon videos based on the video data streams can be output simultaneously, a video being selected among the videos during a stationary operating state, the selected video being output with a higher quality as compared to the non-selected videos, the setting device being configured to generate setting values for setting the data rates of the video data streams and for transmitting the setting values to the video cameras, the generation of the setting values being performed depending on information as to which video is selected, depending on the number of the video cameras present and depending on an available total data rate of the data network.
