In some embodiments, a system initiates battery discharging on a battery pack, where the battery discharging continues until the battery pack reaches a first threshold level of charge. The system then estimates a first state of charge of the battery pack based at least on a first sensor reading associated with the battery pack. The system initiates battery charging on the battery pack, where the battery charging continues until the battery pack reaches a second threshold level of charge. The system estimates a second state of charge of the battery pack based at least on a second sensor reading associated with the battery pack. The system generates a processing result that indicates a capacity of the battery pack based at least on the first state of charge and the second state of charge.

    Abstract: A speed-controlling process limits the speed of a vehicle to make sure brakes can slow down the vehicle without overheating. The speed-controlling process includes estimating a current temperature of at least one brake. The speed-controlling process then calculates a speed limit of the vehicle, for example at which the brake would not exceed a maximum temperature when applied to slow down the vehicle to a stop. The speed-controlling process can limit the vehicle at or below the speed limit by setting a motor torque limit.

    Abstract: The charging management system based on variable charging windows is disclosed. The system can receive and/or determine an anticipated/desired time for the beginning operation of the vehicle. The system obtains or identifies preferences for charging metrics, including desired charge, battery pack preconditioning, and other vehicle attributes. The system then determines a required start time for the desired charging metrics. Illustratively, the determined start time can be based on ambient environmental conditions that can influence charging times, such as differences in charging times based on temperature. The determined start time can also be based on rate schedules for one or more power sources, such as one or more off-peak charging rates, peak charging rates, etc.
