Abstract: A seat, in particular an office chair, has a synchronous mechanism with a weight-adapting mechanism. An automatic adaptation of a spring force acting on the synchronous mechanism depends on the weight momentarily exerted on the seat. Therefore, the spring force is transmitted to the synchronous mechanism via a lever whereof the active arm length of the lever can be modified to adjust the spring force. The weight-adapting mechanism is configured such that the active arm length is automatically adapted to the weight momentarily exerted on the seat.

Abstract: Under one aspect, an interface program stored on a computer-readable medium causes a computer system with a display device to perform the functions of: displaying an image of a region of a metric vector space; obtaining a set of pixel extents in the image that contain apparent textual annotations; for each pixel extent of the set, obtaining a confidence score that the pixel extent actually contains a textual annotation; and displaying the set of pixel extents in a ranked list based on the corresponding confidence scores. In some embodiments, the program further causes the computer system to perform the functions of, for at least one pixel extent of the set, at least one of automatically generating a text string based on the apparent textual annotation, and accepting user input entering a text string based on the apparent textual annotation.

Abstract: A method and system for validating calling parameters of a method call. Validation conditions are evaluated utilizing original calling parameters provided by a validation method call by a client, where the call is required to initiate an activity. The evaluating facilitates determining messages to be provided to a user, where the messages are associated with consequences of continuing the activity. A validation object having data structures is created. The data structures include the validation conditions and the original calling parameters. The validation object is sent to the client to facilitate receipt of the messages by the user. The calling parameters are extracted from the validation object to facilitate completing the activity with a set of calling parameters matching the original calling parameters.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, photo-chromic and phosphorescent toys are disclosed. A photo-chromic and phosphorescent toy includes both photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials applied to the toy such as through an ink, paint, plastic, or dye. The photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials may be supplied within a material of the toy or applied-to a surface of the toy at the factory. Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, photo-chromic light drawing sets are disclosed including a photo-chromic page and a light pen. The photo-chromic page includes a flat transparent substrate having a page-like shape and one or more layers of photo-chromic ink applied onto the substrate. The flat transparent substrate to display an object underneath, and the one of more layers of photo-chromic ink are substantially transparent in an inactive state. The light pen selectively generates an activating light to shine onto the photo-chromic page and activate a portion of the one of more layers of photo-chromic ink. The activated portion of the one or more layers of photo-chromic ink is temporarily transformed from the inactive state to an active state in response to the activating light.

A doubled ended light pen includes a housing having a first end and a second end, a first ultraviolet light emitting diode (UVLED) mounted near the first end of the housing, a second UVLED mounted near the second end of the housing, and first and second switches mounted in the housing. The housing holds one or more batteries to provide power. The first switch and the second switch respectively switch ON and OFF the power supplied by the one or more batteries to the first UVLED and the second UVLED. When powered on, the first UVLED applies a wide angle activation light while the second UVLED applies a point source activation light to a photo-chromic surface.

Abstract: A system and method for exposing internal search indices to Internet search engines. The internal search indices are exposed to external search engines in such a way that the data may be segregated into at least two types including one layer of search data specifically for the search engines, and another for potential users of the application. This significantly improves the probability of discovery by search engines and also provides for presentation of discovered content to users in a manner consistent with the content itself, or consistent with the intended controls or presentations established by the content's owner. The system and method also includes one or more components that reproduce information about IP in a format that search engines can recognize and locate. The component also forwards users coming through the search engines to the actual IP graphical user interface (GUI) instead of the files that the search engine discovered.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a Proxied Contact Management System (PCMS) so that individual owners of personal contact data may control and manage the access and dissemination of their personal data and also control who may contact them. The owner of personal contact data may securely register the data with a secured information vault of the PCMS and specify which other parties may contact them. In this way, duplication of the personal data is avoided, but at the same time is always current. In use, a second party's device, such as a telephone or a PDA may request that the PCMS, under public key infrastructure (PKI) control, establish a connection with the first party. Once verified, the PCMS may establish a proxy connection between the first and second parties according to the permitted mode of communication defined by criteria established by the first party and managed by the PCMS.

Abstract: A communication system provides a clear channel link for transport of encrypted payload across a network of the communication system. When a source access network receives, via an air interface, a frame that is formatted pursuant to an air interface protocol and that comprises encrypted payload, the source access network demultiplexes the frame to separate the encrypted payload and assembles an Intersystem Link Protocol (ISLP) frame that comprises the encrypted payload. The source access network adds a link layer header to the ISLP frame that identifies one or more of frame type information and a sequence value associated with the frame and conveys the ISLP frame and added header across the network, for example, to a destination access network. Based on the added header, the source and destination access networks are able to perform clear channel synchronization.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an intellectual property marketplace (IM) using a secured information vault so that individual owners of intellectual property (IP) may control and manage the access and dissemination of the IP. Producers of the IP may also receive compensation for transactions in the marketplace. Multiple services for adding IP such as books, movies, video, papers, research, music, inventions, or the like, to the IM include controlling authorized access to the IP and generation of advertising based on types of IP in order to solicit potential consumers. Transactions may be securely transacted using public keying infrastructure (PKI). Consumers subscribing to the IM may also be automatically notified when IP is added to the IM based on predetermined preferences established by the consumer.

Abstract: Digital data can be escrowed by receiving escrow parameters including a condition(s) for releasing the escrowed data, and an escrow recipient. An escrow contract is then created based upon the specified escrow parameters. The escrowing further includes storing the digital data in a secure information vault, and storing the escrow contract, along with a pointer to the stored data, in a database. When the condition has been satisfied, the data is released to the escrow recipient. The condition(s) for release can be a payment sum, a date, an indication from a depositor, a trustee or a vault administrator, and/or fulfillment of another escrow contract.
