Abstract: A control system is provided for a fluid delivery device. The control system includes an emitter operable to emit a series of pulses of electromagnetic radiation, as well as a detector operable to detect as a series of detection events electromagnetic radiation pulses reflected by an object on which the emitted pulses of electromagnetic radiation are incident. The control system also includes a microprocessor operable to receive signals corresponding to each detection event from the detector, and to analyse a series of samples of the signals received from the detector. Each sample corresponds to a plurality of successive detection events. The microprocessor is also operable to subsequently generate one or more signals to control operation of the fluid delivery device depending on the results of the analysis.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for providing a content selection GUI [120] incorporating a first type of content from a first type of source [116] and a second type of content from a second type of source [110]. Content selections [402-420] from an active user profile, which may include content selections including both the first type of content and the second type of content, are analyzed and recorded into a user profile data structure [460]. The content selections of the active user profile [402-420] are then analyzed to generate a favorites list, which is presented to the user via the content selection GUI [120].

Abstract: Described are a method and apparatus to enhance the use and recording features of the personal versatile recorder. The personal versatile recording includes plurality of tuners, wherein the content is individually selectable by each tuner of the plurality of tuners. When a first tuner of the plurality of tuners is tuned to an original channel to select original channel content for viewing, the original channel is the viewed channel. The original channel content is cached while presenting the original channel content for viewing. A second tuner of the plurality of tuners may be tuned to at least one subsequent channel to select subsequent channel content for viewing while simultaneously caching the original channel content for subsequent viewing. Other capabilities include annotation, frame cropping, graphical manipulation and storage, segment recording, automatic recording based on advertised content, and prevention of unauthorized disk portability and usage.
