    Abstract: A hard hat fan system is provided. The hard hat fan system includes a shell, a fan coupled to the shell, and a sensor communicably coupled to the processing unit of the fan. The sensor is configured to detect environmental condition data and generate a data signal that is indicative of the environmental condition data. When the processing unit of the fan receives the data signal, the processing unit compares the environmental condition data to a threshold condition to determine if the environmental condition data is above the threshold condition. If the environmental condition data is above the threshold condition, the processing unit generates a control signal configured to change the speed of the fan.

    Abstract: Various hard hat fan systems are provided. In a certain embodiment, fan system includes an impact absorbing layer with a channel that defines a recessed surface which extends into the impact absorbing layer away from an inner surface of a shell of a hard hat. Together, the inner surface of the shell and the recessed surface define a duct configured to provide fluid communication between an inlet of the channel and an air vent positioned along the channel. In another embodiment, fan system includes a mounting bracket with first and second cam levers which may be actuated into a locked position, and first and second channels. When in the locked position, the first and second cam levers bias the edges of a mounting ridge of the shell against the first and second channels of the mounting bracket such that the mounting bracket is retained on the shell.

    Abstract: A ventilation unit have a scroll defining an interior space, a blower wheel located in the interior space to be driven in rotation to draw air into the interior space to ventilate a room. The blower wheel includes a wheel hub mounted to the motor, a plurality of fan blades coupled to an upper end of the wheel hub and spaced circumferentially about the axis, and a support ring coupled to a radially-outer edge of the plurality of fan blades. The wheel hub includes a central motor mount, a peripheral blade mount ring coupled to each of the plurality of fan blades and a plurality of spokes interconnecting the central motor mount and the peripheral blade mount ring. Each of the spokes have an airfoil-shaped cross section.
