    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention a method and system for linking a user to a data record in a directory comprises the steps, performed by one or more processors, of receiving user identifying information, selecting records based on the user identifying information, displaying the selected records to the user, receiving user input identifying at least one of the data records, linking a user to the data record by associating a reference identifier to both the user and the data record, and storing the reference identifier in a location globally accessible location.
