    Abstract: A coating composition for precision application includes: a coating composition including a film-forming resin dispersed in an aqueous medium; a crosslinker reactive with the film-forming resin; a rheology modifier; a colorant; and a swelling solvent that swells the film-forming resin. The solids content of the coating composition is less than 25 weight %, based on the total weight of the coating composition. A system and method for precision application of a coating composition over at least a portion of a substrate are also disclosed. A substrate coated with a multi-layer coating system is also disclosed.
