    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to capacitive sensing, for example for the purpose of non-contact voltage measurement. In the disclosure, an impedance that is dependent on the impedance of a capacitive sensing element is determinable by applying a known reference signal to a circuit comprising the capacitive sensing signal and measuring a resultant voltage. The resultant signal passes through a measurement circuit, such as one comprising a buffer and ADC, before being measured. The power supply of at least part of the measurement circuit is controlled in a predetermined way, for example based on the known reference signal.
