  • Publication number: 20230410391
Abstract: Predefined mark making tools within graphics applications address initial or final stages of a stroke whilst jitter addresses the intervening section of the stroke. Whilst this allows a brush stroke to be simulated as having increasing pressure initially, pressure variability during the stroke, and ending with decreasing pressure this approach does not reflect or mimic the artist's reality. This reality is that an artist applying multiple strokes of a medium, e.g. watercolour, pastels, oils, etc., with an applicator, e.g. a brush, pen, airbrush, marker, sponge or a knife, to a canvas where brush marks may accumulate. Prior art mark making tools and software do not account for aspects of opacity, grain (of the underlying canvas), and blending (of the multiple strokes). Accordingly, there are provided controls with respect mark making tools that address these aspects providing the digital artist with increased control, increased reproducibility, and incorporation of real world effects.

  • Publication number: 20230401070
Abstract: Systems and methods for performance benchmarking-based selection of processor for generating graphic primitives. An example method comprises: initializing, by a computer system comprising a plurality of processors of a plurality of processor types, a current value of a graphic primitive parameter; for each processor type of the plurality of processor types, computing a corresponding value of a performance metric by generating, using at least one processor of a currently selected processor type, a corresponding graphic primitive of a specified graphic primitive type, wherein the graphic primitive is characterized by the current value of the graphic primitive parameter; and estimating, based on the computed performance metric values, a threshold value of the graphic primitive parameter.

  • Patent number: 11798300
Abstract: A microscopic object characterization system comprises a computer system, a microscope with a computing unit connected to the computer system, and an object characterization program executable in the computer system configured to receive refractive index data representing at least a spatial distribution of measured values of refractive index (RI) or values correlated to refractive index of the microscopic object. The object characterization program is operable to execute an algorithm applying a plurality of transformations on the refractive index data. The transformations generate a distribution of two or more parameters used to characterize features of the microscopic object.

  • Patent number: 11514620
Abstract: Graphic arts software has evolved to provide users with a variety of mark making tools to simulate different brushes, papers, and applied media such as ink, chalk, watercolour, spray paint and oils. However, in many instances the marks rendered appear unnatural and artificial despite the software's goal being to simulate as realistically. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide either users or the software application with a mechanism to remove or reduce artifacts indicative of artificial generation, e.g. rapid transitions. Further, in many instances the graphic images generated and/or manipulated refer to imagined environments or have elements that are physical in nature. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide users with a range of mark making tools that represent marks made by mark making tools comprising multiple elements following physical laws.

  • Patent number: 11085788
Abstract: In some implementations, a navigation service can provide a plurality of navigation instructions for a user to traverse a route to an intended destination. The navigation service can also identify at least one portion of the determined route that requires additional guidance based on one or more factors. For each portion of the route that requires additional guidance, the navigation service may generate one or more additional guidance instructions to be inserted within the plurality of navigation instructions, forming an enhanced set of instructions for traversing the route.
