Abstract: An absorbent article comprising a body-facing layer; a liquid-impermeable garment-facing layer; and an absorbent structure therebetween; wherein the absorbent article further comprises a wicking layer disposed between the body-facing layer and the absorbent structure; and an acquisition/dispersion (ADL) layer disposed on the opposite side of the absorbent structure from the garment-facing layer; wherein the body-facing layer comprises at least one barrier sheet, wherein the barrier sheet is substantially liquid-impermeable and is discontinuous, to allow the passage of liquid therethrough.
