  • Patent number: 7207839
Abstract: A connector has a first section for receiving an inner electrical terminal, an outer electrical contact, and a dielectric member separating the inner terminal and outer contact. A second section of the connector extends at an angle from the first section and receives a conductive core and an inner insulation layer of a coaxial cable. The second section has an end for sliding between the inner insulation layer and an outer conductive sheath. The outer contact includes a ferrule for extending through an aperture in the first section and partially around an outer jacket of the cable, the conductive sheath and the second section. The ferrule has appendages for crimping on the jacket. The appendages have serrations for cutting through the jacket and electrically connecting the conductive sheath directly with the outer contact. The second section prevents the appendages and serrations from penetrating to the inner insulation layer.

  • Patent number: 7070440
Abstract: A right-angle coaxial cable connector has an inner cable stop for positioning an end of a coaxial cable in a specific location within an electrically conductive connector housing. A terminal device of the connector includes a center contact terminal with insulation displacement blades on one end. A dielectric member is sandwiched between the center contact terminal and an outer electrical contact. The cable stop surface may be a direct projection from the housing or an extension of the dielectric member. The projection or dielectric member electrically isolates a conductive core of the cable from the connector housing. Full insertion of the terminal device or a part of the terminal device into the connector housing causes the blades to cut through insulation of the cable and electrically connect the conductive core of the cable with the center contact terminal.

  • Patent number: 6431903
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an electrical contact in which the thickness of the stock material is greater than the width of an insulation displacement slot provided therein. The contact is manufactured utilizing conventional stamping and forming operations to create an insulation displacement slot which could not be previously manufactured using these techniques. The contact has a wire receiving section and a mounting section integrally attached to the wire receiving section. Thinned areas are coined or formed on either side of the insulation displacement slot, thereby causing the width of the insulation displacement slot to be dimensioned to receive and terminate the fine wires therein.

  • Patent number: 5626486
Abstract: A high voltage electrical connector assembly having a first connector (12) with socket terminals (44), matable with a second connector (14) having pin terminals (58). Socket terminals (44) are disposed in respective gradually tapered silos (40) of elastomeric material, and the second connector (14) is formed of rigid dielectric material to include silo-receiving recesses (50) surrounding the pin contact sections (56) of the pin terminals (58). Each silo (40) includes a leading end portion extending a selected distance beyond the socket contact section leading end (72) and abuts the recess bottom (96) prior to full connector mating.

  • Patent number: 5580266
Abstract: A high voltage electrical connector assembly having a first connector (10) with socket terminals (14) in respective silos gradually tapered (28), matable with a second connector (110) having pin terminals (130) along a mating face (22,120). A forward housing section (118) of the second connector (110) is of elastomeric material to define sealing of the mating face (22,120) against voltage leakage paths that otherwise would permit generation of corona, upon compressive engagement with rigid material of the first housing (12). Each silo-receiving recess (140) is gradually tapered and contains axially spaced annular embossments (150), with generally the axial location of embossments of some recesses (140A, 140C) being staggered axially with respect to the embossments of adjacent recesses (140B).
