Patent number: 10562205Abstract: A device and method are disclosed. An embodiment of a sliding sled for use on a saw table includes a flat plate, adjustable guide fences on the flat plate at a fixed pivot end to create an oblique angle relative to the saw table, an indexing system including angle indicators to set the angles of the adjustable guide fences, roller bearings on the bottom side of the flat plate for riding on the ACCU-SLICE™ rail, and a sawdust shield to keep sawdust off the roller bearings and ACCU-SLICE™ rail. Guide fences may have a fixed pivot end and a movable end and a locking bolt to temporarily fix the movable end at a desired position on the plate. The movable end of the adjustable guide fences may align with the angle indicators when the angle of the adjustable guide fence relative to the cutting plane corresponds to the angle indicators.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2017Date of Patent: February 18, 2020Assignee: AACU-SLICE, LLCInventors: John J. Manura, Thomas F. Coughlan, Daniel Joseph Niedziocha, Christopher Wayne Baker

Publication number: 20180264989Abstract: The present disclosure provides a load-securement apparatus and a method of installing the load-securement apparatus to secure a load in a shipping container. In one embodiment, the load-securement apparatus includes a first non-rigid anchor member, a second non-rigid anchor member, a first non-rigid load restrainer, and a second non-rigid load restrainer. In one embodiment, the method of installing the load-securement apparatus comprises attaching the first load restrainer to the first anchor member, attaching the first anchor member to the shipping container adjacent a side wall, attaching the second load restrainer to the second anchor member, attaching the second anchor member to the shipping container adjacent another side wall, attaching the first load restrainer to the second load restrainer such that part of the first load restrainer and part of the second load restrainer both contact the load, and tensioning the attached first and second load restrainers to a designated tension.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2018Publication date: September 20, 2018Inventors: Dwight Linn Marshall, Christopher Wayne Baker

Patent number: 10035281Abstract: A device and method are disclosed. The device may be mountable in a band saw table with a miter slot parallel to the cutting plane. An anchor bar may be mountable in the miter slot. A first and second guide bar may be perpendicularly connected to the anchor bar extending away from the cutting plane. A base may be slideably engaged to the first and second guide bar to allow the base to have transverse movement relative to the cutting plane. A guide rail may be connected to the base, wherein the guide rail may be perpendicular to the first and second guide bar, and may be positioned parallel to the anchor bar. A carriage may be slideably engaged to the guide rail for movement along the guide rail in a direction parallel to the cutting plane, the carriage may have a mounting surface for mounting a workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2016Date of Patent: July 31, 2018Assignee: Scientific Instrument Services, Inc.Inventors: John J. Manura, Thomas F. Coughlan, Daniel Joseph Niedziocha, Christopher Wayne Baker

Patent number: 9096348Abstract: An item stabilizer configured to prevent lateral movement of an item (such as a product-supporting pallet) in a transport container. The item stabilizer includes a first item side engager, a second item side engager, and a connector attached to each of the item side engagers such that an item can be positioned on the connector between the item side engagers. The item stabilizer is configured to prevent movement of the item by engaging opposite sides of the item while the weight of the item and any products thereon or therein rest on the connector, thereby preventing the connector and the item side engagers themselves from moving laterally. Each item side engager respectively extends between one side of the item and one of the side walls of the transport container to limit the lateral movement of the item. Multiple item stabilizers can work together to hold an item in place.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2013Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: Signode Industrial Group LLCInventors: Marc Steven Johnson, Michael Scott Carroll, Christopher Wayne Baker

Patent number: 9090378Abstract: A shipping container load securer including a pallet and a box connected to the pallet and filled with a filler, wherein the pallet and the box are substantially the same size and shape as a standardized crate used to package goods for transport in shipping containers. The load securer fills voids in partially filled shipping containers, enabling the shipping container to be tightly packed and preventing the movement of goods-filled crates during transport to minimize damage to the goods in the crates in the shipping container, while not substantially increasing the weight of the container.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2013Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: Signode Industrial Group LLCInventors: David Arnold Christiansen, Marc Steven Johnson, Christopher Wayne Baker, George C. Boyse

Patent number: 8727682Abstract: A shock absorption and restraint apparatus including a plurality of co-acting cushioned pads which create a protective shock absorbing barrier for a load in a railroad car (or other shipping container) and a set of straps which are employed to restrain the cushioned pads and the load. In certain embodiments, the cushioned pads include one or more central or connector cushioned pads and one or more side or cooperating cushioned pads. In certain embodiments, the cushioned pads include strap engaging mechanisms which are configured to be engaged by the straps. The cushioned pads are preferably lightweight, easy to handle and install, recyclable, and readily reusable. In certain embodiments, the cushioned pads are configured, sized, and constructed in such a way to protect the specific load in the railroad car.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2011Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Premark Packaging LLCInventors: Marc Steven Johnson, Christopher Wayne Baker, George C.
