Publication number: 20240152319Abstract: Systems and methods for providing supplemental information with a response to a command are provided herein. In some embodiments, audio data representing a spoken command may be received by a cloud-based information system. A response to the command may be retrieved from a category related to the context of the command. A supplemental information database may also be provided that is pre-populated with supplemental information related to an individual having a registered account on the cloud-based information system. In response to retrieving the response to the command, supplemental information may be selected from the supplemental information database to be appended to the response to the command. A message may then be generated including the response and the supplemental information appended thereto, which in turn may be converted into audio data representing the message, which may be sent to a voice-controlled electronic device of the individual.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2023Publication date: May 9, 2024Inventors: Srikanth Doss Kadarundalagi Raghuram Doss, Jeffery David Wells, Richard Dault, Benjamin Joseph Tobin, Mark Douglas Elders, Stanislava R. Publication number: 20240105280Abstract: Disclosed is a method of analysing genetic data about an organism comprising receiving a plurality of input units. Each input unit comprises information about the association between genetic variants in a region of the genome and phenotypes or phenotype combinations. The method comprises carrying out iterations comprising, for each variant determining for which of the phenotypes or phenotype combinations the variant is causal based on the input units. If the variant is causal for phenotypes or phenotype combinations, a sampled effect size is determined of the variant on the phenotypes or phenotype combinations based on the input units and information about correlations between the variants in the region. For each variant, a prediction effect size is determined variant on the phenotypes or phenotype combinations based on an average across the iterations of the sampled effect sizes or of posterior effect sizes calculated using the sampled effect sizes.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2021Publication date: March 28, 2024Applicant: GENOMICS PLCInventors: Rachel MOORE, Vincent Yann Marie PLAGNOL, Michael WEALE, Daniel WELLS, Christopher Charles Alan Spencer

Publication number: 20240071593Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide smart alerts to users, e.g., alerts to users about diabetic states that are only provided when it makes sense to do so, e.g., when the system can predict or estimate that the user is not already cognitively aware of their current condition, e.g., particularly where the current condition is a diabetic state warranting attention. In this way, the alert or alarm is personalized and made particularly effective for that user. Such systems and methods still alert the user when action is necessary, e.g., a bolus or temporary basal rate change, or provide a response to a missed bolus or a need for correction, but do not alert when action is unnecessary, e.g., if the user is already estimated or predicted to be cognitively aware of the diabetic state warranting attention, or if corrective action was already taken.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Anna Leigh DAVIS, Scott M. Patent number: 11858128Abstract: A device that uses a motor may quickly and safely stop the motor using a rapid braking system. For example, the device may stop to avoid collision with an object, upon determining a failure of an internal component, upon receipt of a command, and so forth. Responsive to a signal to stop, the motor is disconnected from the battery. A braking circuit is activated that dissipates, in a controlled fashion, power produced by continuing motion of the motor. When the voltage produced by the motor's continuing motion drops below a threshold, a stop circuit shorts the terminals of the motor, causing the motor to resist further rotation. When the stop condition no longer applies the signal to stop is removed resulting in the motor being reconnected to the battery, the braking circuit being deactivated, the stop circuit opens the short between the terminals of the motor, and normal operation resumes.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2018Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Benny Ng, Siddharth Gupta, Marcel Colman Eric Stieber, Rex L Allison, Christopher Wells Fitzhugh

Patent number: 11675351Abstract: An autonomous mobile device (AMD) builds up electrostatic charges from moving and generates heat from the operation of internal components. In addition to possible user discomfort, electrostatic discharges may damage sensors and electronics. Electrostatic charges are dissipated from the AMD using an electrostatic dissipation structure and conductive wheels. A conductive path between a chassis ground, the electrostatic dissipation structure, and the conductive wheels improves the dissipation of electrostatic charges. Electrostatic charges are also dissipated from components by mounting the components using conductive materials. Sensors may be affixed to a support structure that is affected by thermal expansion. Thermal expansion may distort precise positioning of sensors, reducing accuracy of sensor data. An elastomeric foam may be used to mount sensors to a support structure, allowing for thermal expansion without distorting the positioning of the sensors.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2021Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Christopher Wells Fitzhugh, Li Huang, Catherine May Farmer, Duc Hongle Ngo, Eric Foxlin, Gregory Turner Witmer, Babak Hashemizadeh, Marcel Colman Eric Stieber

Patent number: 11338616Abstract: An autonomous mobile device may use a pair of main wheels and a caster assembly to provide mobility. The main wheels are driven by motors, providing steering and movement. Each main wheel may include a cover that conceals and protects a hub of the main wheel from the external environment. The covers may be held in place by elastomeric posts, allowing easy changeout. The caster assembly has a minimal overall height and a field replaceable caster wheel. The caster wheel may include a target that is detectable by a non-contact sensor to detect caster wheel rotation. The caster wheel may comprise an axle, caster wheel hub, and a pair of caster wheel endcaps on each end of the axle. A set of features on the caster wheel hub and each of the caster wheel endcaps provide a labyrinthian path that prevents debris from fouling around the axle.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2018Date of Patent: May 24, 2022Assignee: AMZON TECHNOLGIES, INC.Inventors: Christopher Wells Fitzhugh, Shelley Tyler Villano, Lisa Dlima
