Patent number: 11467556Abstract: A system and a method for projection of a pattern of light on a work-piece are provided. The system includes an optical sensor, circuitry, and a projection device. The circuitry controls the optical sensor to capture a first plurality of light signals that bounces off from a surface of a work-piece and estimates a plurality of surface features of the work-piece based on the captured first plurality of light signals. The circuitry determines projection information for a pattern of light to be projected onto the surface of the work-piece based on the estimated plurality of surface features. Based on the determined projection information, the circuitry controls the projection device to project the pattern of light onto the surface of the work-piece.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2019Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Leslie Park, Christopher Yee, Betsy Luk, Don Herner, Charles Eddy

Patent number: 9155520Abstract: An intra-operative ultrasound probe for use with a robotic and laparoscopic surgical systems that allows for direct surgeon control over the position and orientation of the ultrasound image is presented. The transducer is designed to interface with the laparoscopic grasper so that it is easy to pick up in a locking, self-aligning and repeatable manner. The transducer is tracked in space using either forward kinematics or electromagnetic sensing, allowing multiple 2D images to be combined in order to create 3D ultrasound volumes. The 3D volumes can be further processed and displayed on the surgeon's console, or used to register and display acquired pre-operative images at the correct spatial location within the patient.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2012Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Inventors: Caitlin Marie Schneider, Septimiu E. Salcudean, Robert N. Rohling, Christopher Yee Chaung Nguan

Patent number: 5678569Abstract: An input and output display calculator for tracking medical devices used during surgery. Input buttons corresponding to the numbers and packages of needles and sponges allow the user to input this information into the calculator. Output provide for an up to date readout of the total number of such sponges/needles used during the procedure as well as a total of those that have not yet been accounted for. Input buttons on the display face of the calculator provide a means for the nurse or other personnel to input the number of needles/sponges used in increments corresponding to the number of such needles and sponges found in a typical package of such items. Subtraction buttons allow for such numbers to be removed from the display in the event of errors. A timer means records the time that such numbers are added and subtracted and a printer allows for a printed record of such to be made.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Inventors: Stephen Yee Kang Chew, Christopher Yee Chian Chew

Patent number: 5492830Abstract: A method for the resolution of .alpha.-tertiary carboxylic acid esters by partial hydrolysis is disclosed. The partial hydrolysis is carried out by contacting the esters with an aqueous solution in the presence of a serine carboxypeptidase, and the hydrolysis product is separated from unreacted starting material to obtain the hydrolysis product or the unreacted starting material in enantiomerically enriched form. A novel ester hydrolase which is particularly useful in this method, and a nucleotide sequence encoding this enzyme, are also described.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1993Date of Patent: February 20, 1996Assignee: Genzyme CorporationInventors: Helmut Kalwass, Christopher Yee, Todd Blythe, Spencer Shames, Elizabeth Rogers
