  • Patent number: 10381737
Abstract: The present invention provides an antenna miniaturized topology that is based on the implementation of a conductive loading on a quadrifilar helix antenna. This may be achieved by connecting the tip of the four helical arms to end members which may be circular planar conductors. The miniaturization of the antenna may be further enhanced by incorporating a dielectric material in the space between the four arms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 2017
Date of Patent: August 13, 2019
    Assignee: STC.UNM
Inventors: Youssef Antoine Tawk, Christos G. Christodoulou, Joseph Costantine, Michel Chahoud, Marwan Fadous
  • Patent number: 10256546
Abstract: An antenna having a body that includes a plurality of rigid sections separated by a plurality of flexible sections and at least one conductor attached to the rigid and flexible sections. The flexible sections forming hinges that connect rigid sections together to permit the body to be configured into a conical configuration from a substantially flat trapezoid configuration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 6, 2016
Date of Patent: April 9, 2019
    Assignee: STC.UNM

  • Patent number: 9653793
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for a frequency reconfigurable filtenna system. Implementations incorporate a reconfigurable band-pass filter within the feeding line of an antenna structure. The combination of the filter and the antenna may be referred to as a “filtenna”. Implementations integrate both the band-pass filter and the antenna within the same substrate, permitting easier, more efficient and more compact integration in the transceiver hardware. Moreover, by using this configuration, the biasing of the switching elements are not present in the radiating plane of the antenna. This reduces the negative effect of the biasing lines on the antenna radiation performance, as we!! as provides a tunable filtered antenna radiation characteristic.

  • Patent number: 8482465
Abstract: Various embodiments provide materials and methods for an optically pumped switch device, an optically pumped reconfigurable antenna system (OPRAS), and their related antenna devices. In one embodiment, the switch devices and the antenna devices can have a photoconductive cell. The photoconductive cell can include a semiconductive substrate that is conductive to reflect a radio frequency (RF) signal in response to an optical signal.
