Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment, there may be provided an automatic on-street parking control and parking spot availability detection system and the corresponding method. The system works with identifying a vehicle entering and leaving a street segment and counting the time it spent within the street segment. A street segment may be defined by segment limits arranged on the ends of the street segment. Smart nodes may be provided at the segment limits in order to monitor and/or identify the vehicles passing by and crossing the segment limit.
