Patent number: 12235799Abstract: An illustrative system is configured to optimize a transfer of a file system from a source storage system to a target storage system. For example, the system, in association with the transfer, determines that a copy of a collection of blocks containing data of block objects of the file system is already stored at the target storage system. In certain examples, an identifier referencing the collection of blocks is shared by the source and target storage systems and is used to determine that the copy of the collection of blocks containing data of block objects of the file system is already stored at the target storage system. The system uses the copy of the collection of blocks already stored at the target storage system instead of transferring the collection of blocks from the source storage system to the target storage system as part of the transfer.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2021Date of Patent: February 25, 2025Assignee: Pure Storage, Inc.Inventors: Subramaniam Periyagaram, Dirk Meister, Ronald Karr, Zoheb Shivani, Alexei Potashnik, Chu Zhang, Tejal Joshi Chakeres

Patent number: 12079162Abstract: An illustrative data storage system captures snapshots of a data structure based on snapshot creation schedules and sets retention periods for the snapshots based on snapshot retention schedules. The data storage system eradicates snapshots based on expirations of the retention periods. In certain examples, the data storage system determines a rule to use to capture a snapshot based on a state of snapshots within one or more lookback periods and/or based on a set of rules each defining a snapshot capture schedule and a snapshot retention schedule.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2020Date of Patent: September 3, 2024Assignee: Pure Storage, Inc.Inventors: Tejal Joshi Chakeres, Dirk Meister, Cheng Chang, Chu Zhang

Patent number: 11181442Abstract: A six-DOF motion testing and motion parameter decoupling method for rotors based on shaft-disk is proposed, which includes a displacement sensor tooling and a precision shaft-disk fixed on the rotor where three measuring points are arranged on the surface of disk to measure the axial motion of the rotor, two measuring points on the shaft to measure the radial motion, and the angle encoder at the shaft shoulder to measure the rotation motion. The tooling guarantees the accuracy of displacement sensors. The fixed coordinate system and the shaft-disk moving coordinate system are set, and the measured values of the displacement sensors and the encoder are represented by vectors to establish the relationship between the six-DOF motion of the shaft-disk axis and the measured values of sensors. Thus, the six-DOF motion of the rotor/shaft-disk can be determined by the measured data.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2019Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: DALIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Huimin Dong, Chu Zhang, Delun Wang, Jun Qiu, Zhi Wang

Patent number: 5523132Abstract: Solar energy absorptive coatings that comprise single cermet layers with a homogeneous metal volume fraction exhibit an absorptance of about 0.8, which is not high enough for practical solar applications. To achieve absorptance greater than 0.9, graded composite films have been developed, but they give rise to higher thermal emittance due to the absorption edge not being sharp enough. This leads to increased thermal emittance at high operating temperatures, in the range of 300.degree. C. to 500.degree. C. There is now disclosed a novel solar selective surface coating which is composed of two cermet layers, with different metal volume fractions in each layer. The two cermet layers have different thicknesses, and the layers have thicknesses and volume fractions such that solar radiation is absorbed by internal absorbing and phase cancellation interference, but the cermet layers are substantially transparent in the thermal infrared region.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1994Date of Patent: June 4, 1996Assignee: The University of SydneyInventors: Qi-Chu Zhang, David Mills, Anthony Monger
