    Abstract: A lamp having a glass/ceramic composite having phosphor embedded therein is disclosed for use with high power light sources. In one embodiment, the phosphor is embedded in a thin film as quantum dots. In one embodiment, a glass shell surrounds the light source and the composite phosphor matrix to protect the lamp from outside environmental conditions.
