  • Patent number: 10817037
Abstract: A method for managing a power supply comprises an Extension Power over Ethernet System receiving a trigger event. A determination is made as to whether the trigger event would cause a power budget of a power supply management device to increase or decrease; if the power is increased, the power is provided to a switch with a higher priority; if the power is decreased, power can be provided to a switch with a higher priority from a lower priority. A device for power supply management is also disclosed, the method and the device can effectively allocate power as required and avoid equipment overload.

  • Publication number: 20120221742
Abstract: A switch capable of saving power is provided. The switch includes at least one transmission port, and each port capable of being connected to one type of network device. The switch detects whether data transmission exists between one port and a network device connected to the port, detects an actual data transmission speed, obtains a discovery protocol, determines the type of the device according to identity information in the discovery protocol, decreases the preset transmission speed to a value which is equal to or exceeds a total of the actual transmission speed and a preset value, upon a condition that difference between the preset transmission speed and the actual data transmission speed is equal to or exceeds a fixed value, and sets the decreased transmission speed to an initial preset transmission speed when the data transmission ends. A corresponding power saving method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7562139
Abstract: A system for logging events of network devices includes an event management module (110), an event forwarding module (120), a plurality of service modules (130), an event storing module (150), and a user interface (160). The event management module includes an event buffer (111). The service modules generate various events and classify them. Based on a callback function, the event forwarding module collects classified events and sends them to the event management module. The event management module stores events in the event storing module, and provides the events to the user interface for display according to a predefined filtering mechanism. A method for logging events of network devices is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070104189
Abstract: A network system includes a client device (10), a central office (50), and a network device (30) connected to the client and the central office. The network device includes a first control card (300), a second control card (400), and a plurality of line cards (100) connected to the first control card, the second control card, and the client. Connections between the first control card and one part of the line cards are designated as primary connections, and connections between the second control card and the same part of the line cards are designated as redundant connections. Meanwhile, connections between the second control card and a remaining part of the line cards are designated as primary connections, and connections between the first control card and the remaining part of the line cards are designated as redundant connections.

  • Publication number: 20060047785
Abstract: A system (3) for configuring and managing communication devices that include non-volatile memories includes a user interface (31) for providing a configuration and management interface for a network administrator, one or more service modules (35) for generating configuration information, and a configuration manager (33) for managing the configuration information. The user interface includes a parser (312) for parsing configuration commands or management commands issued by the network administrator. The configuration manager includes a command builder (334) for mapping the configuration information provided by the service modules to the configuration commands, and a command loader (332) for loading respective configuration files containing the configuration commands from the non-volatile memories of the communication devices. A related method for configuring and managing communication devices is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050271044
Abstract: A method for managing a stack (1) of switches (10, 20, 30, 40) includes the steps of: constructing a stack comprising a plurality of stackable switches according to a desired topology; sending a packet comprising information on topology and priority from each switch to a neighboring switch in order to record the topology of the sending switch; electing a master switch (10) according to media access control addresses and priorities of the switches; configuring slave switches (20, 30, 40) remotely through the master switch; and retrieving statistical data on the slave switches through the master switch; or retrieving status data on the slave switches through the master switch. Thus, users can conveniently manage all slave switches of the stack through the master switch.
