  • Patent number: 9306822
Abstract: A system and method for performing a first diagnostic test on a first class of service on a network link during a current measurement period, performing at least one further diagnostic test on a second class of service on the network link during the current measurement period, determining whether an alert was present during a previous measurement period and generating a current failure alert based on results of the first and the at least one further diagnostic tests if an alert was present during the previous measurement period.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 15, 2013
Date of Patent: April 5, 2016
    Assignee: AT & T Intellectual Property I, L.P.
Inventors: Chuan-Chuen Chang, Li-Jin Wu Chung
  • Patent number: 8989015
Abstract: A method and apparatus for addressing a congestion condition in a communication network are disclosed. For example, the method receives an alert for at least one of: a trunk or a Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC), where the trunk or the PVC is associated with a route. The method determines whether the alert is associated with a congestion condition by determining whether a trunk utilization has exceeded a first predetermined threshold for the trunk or for the at least one trunk supporting the PVC. The method then rebuilds the route if the first predetermined threshold is exceeded for the trunk or for the at least one trunk supporting said PVC.

  • Patent number: 5550903
Abstract: A method for monitoring telephone completion data to forecast the economic benefit realized in increasing international telephone call completion. The method includes a model for evaluating carried calling loads realized from a domestic origination point to an international end destination. The method factors various network blocking loads, international telephone answer seizure ratios (ASR), and a calculated volume of ineffective call attempts in evaluating the economic benefit realized from increasing international telephone trunk capacity and/or rendering improvements for foreign internal telephone network ASR.
