In the method, a wireless communication module of the connected device is activated to enable a discoverable state of the connected device. A corresponding wireless communication module of the electronic apparatus is activated to detect the connected device, receive communication information provided by the connected device, and accordingly establish a communication channel between the electronic apparatus and the connected device. The electronic apparatus transmits network setting data to the connected device through the communication channel. The connected device applies the network setting data so as to connect the network.

Abstract: A computer system and a remote control method for a computer device are provided. The computer system includes a computer device and a remote device. The computer device includes a network communication unit and an ID table. Before the computer device enters into a power-saving state, the computer device reads an ID code of the network communication unit and searches the ID table according to the ID code to obtain a particular packet format type. The computer device sends an agreement packet including a message of the particular packet format type to notify the remote device. The computer device receives a response packet from the remote device for setting a packet receiving procedure and enters into the power-saving state. When the computer device receives a wake-up packet compliant with the packet receiving procedure from the remote device, the computer device returns to a normal operation state.

If it is determined that the packet data need to be processed by the data processor, the modem processor wakes up the data processor; whereas the data processor remains in the hibernation mode. Thus, the time period in which the data processor is in the hibernation mode is extended so as to achieve power saving effect.

When the data processor is entering to hibernate mode, network information corresponding to the application program is generated, such as a communication port number or an Internet Protocol (IP) address. The modem then filters the received packet data based on the network information. Only when communication port number or IP address contained in the received packet data matches the network information, the modem will wake up the data process to process the received packet data. Therefore, the hibernation time of the data processor is extended to effectively reduce the power consumed by the wireless communication device.
