  • Patent number: 6761440
Abstract: An ink cartridge with negative-pressure regulating mechanism, comprising a first ink chamber, a second ink chamber and an regulating mechanism; the regulating mechanism is of a interlocking device composed of a damping device and a valve that, installed between the first ink chamber and the second ink chamber, is used for being the valve connecting the first ink chamber and the second ink chamber; when ink in the second ink chamber is being used, the inner pressure of the second ink chamber is to be lowered, thus activating the regulating mechanism, so that ink in the first ink chamber is led into the second ink chamber for stable replenishment.

  • Patent number: 6758558
Abstract: The specification discloses an ink container having a pressure stabilizer module. The module contains an airtight membrane, a passive plate, and an elastic device. The airtight membrane separates a box into an ink chamber and an air chamber. The passive plate is connected to one side of the airtight membrane and to the elastic device. The elastic device is normally depressed or stretched to move the airtight membrane. The ink chamber is thus slightly extended outward and maintains a negative pressure. As the ink stored inside the ink chamber gets less, the elastic device provides a restoring force to push or drag the passive plate. The negative pressure is thus maintained within a specific range. The invention further uses a conic spiral spring to avoid ink waste.

  • Patent number: 6739710
Abstract: This specification discloses a negative pressure-regulating airbag for an embedding-type ink cartridge and its assembly method. In addition to a bag with a variable volume, the negative pressure-regulating airbag has a buckle ring, a plate, and a elastic element. The buckle ring is closely connected to the bag. A vent hole is formed in the middle of the buckle ring, allowing air to enter or escape the airbag when the ambient pressure changes. The buckle ring has a protruding part on the surface of the bag so as to be embedded into a preserved hole on an ink cartridge by pressing during the assembly. This forms a quick and tight connection between the airbag and the ink cartridge. One end of the elastic element is connected to the ink cartridge and the other end to the plate so that the plate imposes a force to depress the airbag. This keeps a negative pressure inside the cartridge to prevent ink leakage from the cartridge during transportation or use.

  • Patent number: 6719418
Abstract: An inkjet pen including an ink reservoir for storing ink and providing ink for jetting. A port, located on top of the ink reservoir, fluid-communicated with the ambient air, is used for adjusting the air pressure inside the reservoir. A valve, operated by a spring or a resilient element, normally seals the port, while occasionally opening the port to introduce air into the reservoir when the ink level is low and the underpressure rises. In other embodiments, an elastic bag is included in the reservoir that has an opening communicated with the ambient air through a second port formed on top of the reservoir. The elastic bag expands in response to the increasing underpressure generated in the reservoir when ink is being used. The bag expansion actuates the opening of the valve so as to regulate the underpressure.
