Publication number: 20130116560Abstract: The present application relates to an ultrasound temperature mapping system and method. The ultrasound temperature mapping system for measuring a temperature of an object comprises an ultrasound transducer and a processing module. The ultrasound transducer is configured to acquire a first image and a second image with respect to the object. The processing module implements a zero-crossing algorithm to process the first image to yield a plurality of first zero-crossing points and implements a cross-correlation algorithm to process the first image and the second images based on the plurality of first zero-crossing points so as to obtain a plurality of displacements. The processing module further calculates the temperature based on the plurality of displacements.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2012Publication date: May 9, 2013Applicant: National Taiwan UniversityInventors: Wen-Shiang CHEN, Der-Hsien Lien, Chuin-Shan Chen, Jay Shieh, Chiung-Nien Chen, Chien-Cheng Chang, Yu-Chen Shu, Chang-Wei Huang

Patent number: 8410664Abstract: The method of changing ultrasound wave frequency by using the acoustic matching layer presents a replaceable acoustic matching layer to offer an effective means of filtering the original broadband frequency of an ultrasonic transducer into certain composite discontinuous frequencies. The filtering effect could be improved by connecting the electrodes of the acoustic matching layer when it is made of a poled piezoelectric material. This method may provide novel applications for commercial ultrasonic transducers.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2010Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: National Taiwan UniversityInventors: Tzong-Lin Jay Shieh, Wen-Shiang Chen, Chung-Ting Ko, Chuin-Shan Chen

Publication number: 20070116869Abstract: This invention discloses a coating method to apply a layer of nano-particles adsorbed on submicron ceramic oxide particles, which can prevent the agglomeration of nano-particles by the effects of Brownian motion and van der Waals force. Using this method, nano-sized titania can be uniformly coated on the surface of silica. This method is conducted in an aqueous solution and able to fabricate a coating layer in a controlled thickness between 5 to tens nm. After calcination, the coated particles can be assembled to form a photonic bandgap crystal. This invention also discloses a coating method to apply a uniform nano TiO2-coating layer on the SiO2 photonic bandgap crystals.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventors: Wen-Cheng Wei, Chuin-Shan Chen, Bang-Ying Yu, Jenn-Feng Li
