    Abstract: The backlight assembly includes a lamp unit, a light guide plate and a receiving container. The light guide plate includes a light exiting surface, a light reflecting surface facing the light exiting surface, and side surfaces. The receiving container includes a frame plate and sidewall protruding from an outer edge of the frame plate to form a receiving space for receiving the lamp unit and the light guide plate. The first distance between an inner surface of the sidewall and an outer surface of the light guide plate at a first region is greater than a second distance between the inner surface of the sidewall and the outer surface of the light guide plate at a second region. The light guide plate is more spaced apart from the sidewall at the corners where much noise was made, in a general backlight assembly, so that the noise is reduced.

    Abstract: We describe an input circuit and method. The input circuit includes a variable reference level generator that increases a level of a reference signal in proportion to a time when an input signal transits from a low level to a high level and decreases the level of the reference signal in proportion to a time when the input signal transits from a high level to a low level. An analyzer compares the level of the input signal with the level of the reference signal, determines the level of the input signal, and outputs a signal based on the comparison. The input circuit and method widen the minimum difference between the input and reference signal to facilitate analysis of the input signal.

A light guide device for receiving a light from a lamp unit and guiding the light to a display unit for displaying an image has a catching jaw is formed by cutting off both corner portion of a first end portion to which the light from the lamp unit is inputted. The width of the first end portion including the catching jaw is wider than the width of a second end portion opposite to the first end portion. Therefore, the catching amount of a catching boss integrally formed with the mold frame and the catching jaw of the light guide plate is remarkably increased and the light guide plate is prevented from being flowed towards the lamp even when exterior impacts are applied to the liquid crystal display device.
