    Abstract: A gas detecting device includes an actuating-and-sensing module, a driving controller, a data storage device and a data processor. The actuating-and-sensing module includes a first gas sensor, a second gas sensor and a gas transportation actuator. The driving controller controls the actuations and non-actuations of the first gas sensor, the second gas sensor and the gas transportation actuator. The first gas sensor measures the target gas and transmits first gas measured information to the data storage device. The second gas sensor measures the target gas and transmits second gas measured information to the data storage device. The data processor calculates concentrations of the gases in the target gas by comparing the information stored in a gas database, the first gas measured information and the second gas measured information.

    Abstract: A micro pump having noise-reduced pressure-releasing structure includes a convergence plate, a valve sheet, a chamber plate, and a micro pump. The convergence plate has a convergence outlet and a discharge outlet. The valve sheet has a valve hole and a discharge recessed portion. The chamber plate has a recessed hole, a fluid determine hole, fluid through holes, and a receiving trough. The micro pump is in the receiving trough. During operation of the micro pump, the fluid is firstly transmitted to the fluid through hole and the fluid determine hole to push the valve sheet, and the fluid determine hole pushes the discharge recessed portion to block the discharge outlet. Then, since the pressure of the fluid at the fluid through hole pushes the valve sheet, the fluid flows through the valve hole so as to be discharged out from the convergence outlet.

    Abstract: A method for determining failure of a power element for use in an electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a power element and a detection circuit. The method includes the steps of: obtaining a temperature-calculation model of the power element, and obtaining a parameterized temperature-calculation model of a power-element parameter and a parameterized temperature of the power element; detecting load information and the power-element parameter by the detection circuit; calculating a modeled temperature of the power element according to the load information and the temperature-calculation model, and calculating the parameterized temperature of the power element according to the power-element parameter and the parameterized temperature-calculation model; determining whether an error between the modeled temperature and the parameterized temperature exceeds a permitted range; and determining that the power element has failed in response to the error exceeding the permitted range.

    Abstract: A method and device for flexible, dynamic and optimal buffering in a networking system are provided. Sizes of incoming packets are recognized and the packets are buffered into buffers of appropriate sizes. Usage times of buffers are counted, and during an idle state of the networking system, buffer number and descriptor number are re-calculated based on usage times. Then, buffers and descriptors are re-allocated based on the re-calculated number. By re-allocation, buffer sets with higher usage times are allocated with more buffers, and vice versa, so memory waste is lowered and the overall performance of the networking system is improved.

When the device driver determines to access the emulated compact disk drive, it performs a converting procedure to convert an access instruction to the compact disk drive into an access instruction to the non-partition region, and sets a command register of the hard disk controller in accordance with the instruction converted and the audiovisual table, thereby accessing the non-partition region.
