Abstract: A Christmas tree has a base, a trunk formed of two or more interconnected segments, a first of which is supported by the base, a number of branches extending from each segment, two or more light source modules, at least one of which is associated with each segment, and fibre optics extending from each light source to positions upon the branches of the respective segments. The light source modules are mutually interconnected by electric cables Each light source comprises one or more LEDs. The LED(s) of each module is/are mounted upon a PCB that is located within a housing. The fibre optics have ends secured within a socket, which socket is plugged into the respective housing.

Abstract: An animated display includes two or more interconnected animated display items. Each display item includes a base member supporting a motion device. The motion device is driven by an electric motor and is in communication with a flexible display covering. One display item has a sensor operable to provide an activation signal. The display items are interconnected via wiring connecting the sensor to electric motors in other display items. There may be a light inside the flexible display covering, the wiring connecting the sensor to the light in each display item.

Abstract: A fiber optical device is employed to produce a unique display. The device includes an elongated bundle of fibers for conducting light from a light source to remote terminating ends. The fiber ends produce a pattern representing a graphic symbol or character. The display is enhanced by employing fibers lying flat side-by-side with selected exterior portions roughened and some selected exterior portions masked. These latter portions provide a secondary display of light augmenting the first mentioned pattern. A color wheel and lens is disposed between the light source and the fiber bundle and is edge driven by gearing and a motor.
