Abstract: A toasting apparatus has a toasting space for receiving a food item, electrical heaters for toasting the food item, a temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of the toasting space and providing an output signal, and a control circuit for controlling the heaters in a toasting operation by reference to an output signal of the temperature sensor corresponding to an initial temperature associated with the toasting space immediately prior to commencement of the toasting operation. The control circuit controls the heaters by varying the operating power and/or time of the heaters during each toasting operation in an inverse relationship to the initial temperature.

Abstract: This invention provides a hand-held electrically powered hair dryer in which the handle is movable in its connection to the main body. The handle provided with a sliding connection to the main body so that it can assume at least two different positions on the main body portion to increase the versatility of the apparatus. The hair dryer also provides an outlet which is rotatable about a pivot axis so that the air stream itself may be directed at different angles with respect to the hair dryer.

Abstract: This invention provides a driving aid to assist in detecting when a driver may become drowsy while at the wheel of a vehicle. The device is fitted to a user's head and sounds an audible alarm or similar alarm indicator once the angular displacement of the device exceeds a set level. The device relies on a tendency of a driver's head to move downwardly as the driver becomes drowsy causing angular displacement of the device. Adjustment of the threshold angular displacement for activation of the alarm and adjustment of the time interval for which the angular displacement must be exceeded to trigger the alarm can be provided. The driving aid may also have an attachment which enables a user to place the device on an ear and/or hang on the frame of arm of a pair of glasses.

Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for the production of heated beverage being, in particular, coffee. The apparatus provides a brewing chamber in which the outlet from the brewing chamber is closed for a period during operation to ensure retention of the liquid in contact with the coffee. Upon opening of the outlet, the coffee progresses to a beverage container substantially sealed against the escape of steam and aroma from the brewed coffee.

Abstract: A toaster attachment comprises a wire basket 20 that may be fitted to a conventional toaster. The attachment includes securing means 9 and means 15 for rotating the basket member 20 above the bread receiving opening of a conventional toaster. In this was a conventional toaster may be used to toast or warm through food products other than flat slices of bread, for example bread rolls, muffins, marshmallows, nuts etc, using the heat generated by the heating elements within the toaster.
