    Abstract: An electrical connector is provided and includes a housing having a pair of side walls defining a plurality of terminal grooves therein and a bottom wall connecting with said side walls and defining a top face facing upward. A plurality of terminals are received in said terminal grooves, each comprising a retaining portion and a contacting portion extending from the retaining portion, said contacting portion having a connecting portion cantilevered above said top face. The bottom wall defines a plurality of through holes running therethrough along a vertical direction and facing to an end of the connecting portion which is far away from the retaining portion, and said top face of the bottom wall extends slantwise from the through hole to the side walls therefore places adjacent to the through hole are lower than those adjacent to the side walls in said vertical direction.

    Abstract: An electrical connector mating with a counterpart connector includes: an insulating housing having sidewalls and endwalls to define a receiving room and a number of contacts retained in the insulating housing. The contact has a first mating portion retained on an outer surface of the sidewall and a second mating portion retained on an inner surface of the sidewall to face the receiving room. The first mating portion and the second mating portion define a U-shaped structure riding on the sidewall. A gap is defined between said first mating portion and the sidewall so that the first mating portion can flexible move in the gap to absorb a dimensional tolerance during the mating process and get a stable connection with the counterpart connector.

The side guiding section (2142) is configured to guide the free front header (214) into an interior of the channel (13) at a first initial insertion position, while the horizontal retention piece (2141) is pressed by a horizontal wall (146) of the channel (13) at a second full insertion position to hold the contact (2) in position. This configuration of the free front header (214) has the function of guiding the contact (2) into the channel (13) with no need of an installation tool.
