Abstract: A user terminal and proxy server of an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), and an operating method thereof are provided. A user terminal of an IPTV system includes a channel information input unit which receives channel information as an input, a channel management unit which transmits the input channel information to a proxy server, and receives from the proxy server a content information that corresponds to the channel information, and a content playback unit which replays a content using the received content information. As a result, viewers can use IPTV contents as easily as they use general TVs.

The source device includes: a DRM module which decrypts encrypted multimedia contents included in DRM contents through certification of a source device, and generates a control message for controlling digital A/V channels connected between the source device and a sink device based on a DRM rule; an input controller which certifies A/V data input from a media decrypter, and outputs A/V data filtered according to a certifying result; an input interface which converts the filtered A/V data into pixel data and audio data; and a signal transmitter which encrypts and converts the pixel and audio data into high-speed serial digital A/V signals to be transmitted to the sink device.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for generating a serial number which is granted to a predetermined product such as software. In the method, basic identification code data including data on a current date or random numbers are generated, and identification code data is generated using the basic identification code data. Rule data on conditions of the use of the product are set. MAC data is generated by substituting the identification code data and the rule data into a HASH function. The identification code data, the rule data, and the MAC data are coded using a predetermined encryption key to generate the serial number. Accordingly, a serial number can be created having the predetermined period of validity or authorisation to use a product for only authenticated users. Thus, several functions can be recognized using the serial number.
