  • Patent number: 7111955
Abstract: An illuminated logo unit (300) includes a reflective board (320), a pattern panel (301), an illuminating device (310), and a reflective film (305). The pattern panel is arranged over the reflective board, and the reflective film is disposed under the pattern panel opposite to the reflective board. Much light emanating from the illuminating device is reflected more than once by the reflective film and the reflective board before it reaches the pattern panel. This enhances the overall brightness and uniformity of light beams of the illuminated logo unit. Even at night, the illuminated logo unit can be clearly viewed. The illuminated logo unit may be used for applications such as in a billboard, a logo displayed on a vehicle, and so on.

  • Publication number: 20060120661
Abstract: A thermally induced pressure operated optical switch (3) includes a prism (31), and a substrate (32) disposed below the prism. The substrate defines a plurality of switch elements (35). Each switch element includes a first chamber (351), a second chamber (352) containing matching liquid (36) having a reflective index substantially the same as that of the prism, and a thermal pressure generator (37) communicating with the second chamber for causing the matching liquid to flow between the first and second chambers. The switch elements are arranged in an array in like manner to the way pixels of a display device are arranged. Thus, the thermal pressure generators can be selectively turned on and off, in order to control the switch elements to manipulate optical beams for displaying all kinds of images. The optical switch can be employed in a display device, a projector, or like apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 7045755
Abstract: An image sensor package (10) includes a housing (34) defining a top opening, an image sensor (14) received in the housing, and a converging lens (36) covering the opening to hermetically seal the housing and form a window for light to pass through into the housing. The image sensor has an active area which faces the converging lens and which is responsive to light. The converging lens not only provides hermetic sealing for the housing, but also converges light before the light strikes the active area of the image sensor. Accordingly, a focal length F is reduced, and a size of the image sensor package and the image sensor system can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050225743
Abstract: A laser range finder (3) includes an optical source (33) for emitting light beams, a switchable micro-mirror (30) for receiving the light beams and selectively transmitting them to a fixed mirror (40) and a moveable mirror (42) respectively, and a receiver device (50) for collecting the light beams reflected from the fixed mirror and the moveable mirror. The receiver device determines an elapsed time between transmission of the light beams from the fixed mirror and the moveable mirror, and converts the elapsed time into a distance between the moveable mirror disposed at an object and the fixed mirror disposed at a reference point. The switchable micro-mirror may be a micro-electromechanical mirror having high precision, which helps ensure that the laser range finder accurately measures the distance between the reference point and the object.
