  • Publication number: 20110161771
Abstract: A method of providing resource unit based data block partitioning may include determining, for a bit stream to be encoded in a coding scheme including an upper layer coding and a physical layer coding, whether upper layer coding is enabled. The method may further include, in response to the upper layer coding being enabled, partitioning the bit stream into one or more blocks for forward error correction coding. The one or more blocks may have a block size determined based on a size of a resource unit. The resource unit size may correspond to one or more units predefined in the physical layer for the resource allocation. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110159882
Abstract: A pilot selection method adapted for selecting rank-2 pilot patterns for a macrocell advanced base station (ABS), a femtocell ABS and a non-macrocell and non-femtocell ABS is proposed along with a wireless communication system and a base station thereof. Different rank-2 pilot pattern is selected for a femtocell ABS from its overlay macrocell ABS and non-macrocell and non-femtocell ABS rank-2 pilot patterns. Another pilot selection method for selecting a rank-1 pilot pattern for a femtocell ABS co-located with at least a macrocell ABS is also proposed. Different rank-1 pilot pattern is selected for a femtocell ABS from its overlay macrocell ABSs using rank-1 and/or rank-2 pilot patterns, where some of the macrocell ABSs can use rank-2 pilot patterns and the rest of the macrocell ABSs just use rank-1 pilot patterns. Also, different rank-1 pilot pattern is selected for the femtocell ABS from its neighboring femtocell ABSs using rank-1 pilot patterns.

  • Patent number: 7764745
Abstract: A method for selecting a codeword in a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication system is disclosed. The method comprises steps providing a transmitter with codeword. A receiver receives the codeword candidates and calculates the corresponding bit error rate (BER) according to a decoding strategy. The receiver chooses a codeword candidate which has a minimum BER value and sends a selection signal to the transmitter. And, a transmitter determines a codeword for data transmission according to the selection signal.

  • Patent number: 7664191
Abstract: The invention provides a block-wise successive interference cancellation (SIC) detection algorithm for a general multi-input multi-output (MIMO) CDMA system over the frequency-selective channels, in which each user's data stream can be simultaneously applied with orthogonal space-time block encoding for transmit diversity or spatially multiplexing for high spectral efficiency according to the channel conditions. For such the considered dual-signaling system, the receiver could suffer from the large dimension data processing. A two-stage approach for block-wise SIC detection algorithm is thus proposed to further reduce the computational complexity.

  • Publication number: 20100027704
Abstract: Various methods for data transmission based on signal priority and channel reliability are provided. One example method includes encoding a number of bits into coded bits including systematic bits and respective associated parity bits, the bits being encoded for transmission via channels of a multi-channel communications system including a more reliable channel and a less reliable channel. The example method also includes allocating the systematic bits to bit locations within a first stream corresponding to the more reliable channel, allocating the systematic bits to bit locations having a higher signal priority within a second stream corresponding to the less reliable channel, and allocating the parity bits to bit locations within the second stream. Similar and related example methods and apparatuses for allocating the systematic and parity bits to the respective bit locations in both the more and less reliable channels are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090323838
Abstract: A method used in a wireless communication apparatus based on reference signals is provided. The method may include obtaining a plurality of pilot rules and obtaining radio channel information of a radio channel between the wireless communication apparatus and another wireless communication apparatus. The wireless communication apparatus may be in an area including at least one cell and using one or more data streams. Further, the method may include selecting applicable pilot rules from the plurality of pilot rules based on the radio channel information, creating at least one pilot structure to be used in the radio channel; and using the created at least one pilot structure to transmit data over the radio channel.

  • Publication number: 20060268809
Abstract: The invention provides a block V-BLAST detection algorithm for a general multi-input multi-output CDMA system over the frequency-selective channels, in which each user's data stream can be either orthogonal space-time block encoded for transmit diversity or spatially multiplexed for high spectral efficiency according to the channel conditions. For such the considered dual-signaling system, the receiver could suffer from the large dimension data processing. A two-stage group V-BLAST detection algorithm is thus proposed to further reduce the computational complexity.
