  • Patent number: 7152119
Abstract: A method and a host for allocating a plurality of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to a Network Interface Card (NIC) which has a unique Media Access Control (MAC) address comprising vendor code and serial code is provided. The method for allocating multiple IP addresses to the NIC in a host includes: setting up a virtual MAC address by combining a virtual vendor code and a serial code; mapping the virtual MAC address with one of internal addresses of actual IP addresses allocated to a host; and allocating the mapped internal address and the virtual MAC address to an application that requests an IP protocol. Since a plurality of IP addresses can be allocated to one NIC in the IP address allocation method, as many NICs as required IP addresses are not necessary and cost-effectiveness can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7092925
Abstract: An intelligent portable communications device and its operation method according to a user's schedule are provided. The operation method is formed of the steps of recording the schedule, continuously determining if it is necessary to alert the user, determining if the user has a scheduled event if alerting the user is necessary, determining if the user can be called during a scheduled event, automatically performing a response corresponding to the recorded schedule for the call if the user cannot be alerted, and alerting the user if the user can be alerted, or if the user does not have the scheduled event. Therefore, even though the user has not manipulated the portable communications device before a scheduled event, the user is not disturbed, a noise interruption can be prevented, and the caller can be led to conform to the user's schedule through the automatic response function.

  • Publication number: 20060095293
Abstract: A method and system for providing a ticket to a user using a portable terminal and using the provided ticket are provided. The method for providing a ticket involves a server capable of issuing the ticket and a ticket issuer issuing the ticket requested to be issued by the portable terminal using wired or wireless communication in the form of e-ticket and storing information related to the ticket issued in the terminal. The method for using a ticket involves a ticket authentication/entry processor requesting the ticket server that issues the ticket an inquiry for the ticket related information upon receipt of the ticket related information using wired or wireless communication and determining whether the user of the terminal is allowed an entry depending on the inquiry result. Accordingly, the loss of tickets for accessing events or facilities can be prevented, and resources can be saved since digital transactions eliminate a need to use tickets in a printed form.

  • Publication number: 20010041578
Abstract: A portable radio terminal system, wherein during transmission a multimedia short message is edited, and if the amount of data of the edited multimedia short message exceeds the reference transmission capacity, then a plurality of sub-multimedia short messages are created, with each sub-multimedia short message having a reference transmission capacity and being sequentially transmitted to an opposite telephone number. During reception, it is checked whether or not a received multimedia short message is a sub-multimedia short message, and if so, it is checked whether or not the received sub multimedia short message is the final one. If the received sub multimedia short message is determined to be the final one, then a multimedia short message is constructed by combining all the received sub-multimedia short messages.
