  • Publication number: 20170134518
Abstract: A method for reducing reactivation time of services that includes examining page faults that occur during processing of a service after the service has been inactive to provide a plurality of prefetch groups, and formulating a prefetch decision tree from page fault data in the prefetch groups. Pages from an initial page table for the service following a reactivated service request are then compared with the prefetched pages in the resident memory in accordance with the prefetch decision tree. Pages in the page table that are not included in said prefetched pages are paged in. A process to provide to provide the service is executed using the page table. Executing the process substantially avoids page faults.

  • Patent number: 9053437
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for extracting information through analysis of provenance data. For example, a computer-implemented method of extracting information regarding an execution of an enterprise process comprises the following steps. Provenance data is generated, wherein the provenance data is based on collected data associated with an actual end-to-end execution of the enterprise process and is indicative of a lineage of one or more data items. A provenance graph is generated that provides a visual representation of the generated provenance data, wherein nodes of the graph represent records associated with the collected data and edges of the graph represent relations between the records. At least a portion of the generated provenance data from the graph is analyzed so as to extract information about the execution of the enterprise process based on the analysis.

  • Patent number: 9021007
Abstract: Interoperability is enabled between participants in a network by determining values associated with a value metric defined for at least a portion of the network. Information flow is directed between two or more of the participants based at least in part on semantic models corresponding to the participants and on the values associated with the value metric. The semantic models may define interactions between the participants and define at least a portion of information produced or consumed by the participants. The determination of the values and the direction of the information flow may be performed multiple times in order to modify the one or more value metrics. The direction of information flow may allow participants to be deleted from the network, may allow participants to be added to the network, or may allow behavior of the participants to be modified.

  • Patent number: 8849745
Abstract: Improved decision support techniques are disclosed. For example, a technique for processing transactional data for use in accordance with a decision support operation comprises the following steps/operations. The transactional data is transformed into an interim form according to a relative importance of the transactional data to the decision support operation. The transformed data is incrementally analyzed, wherein the incremental analysis comprises applying a successive approximation to the data in the interim form, such that the decision support operation can be incrementally performed based on a transactional load. The technique may further comprise allocating one or more computing resources to incrementally perform the decision support operation.

  • Patent number: 8595042
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for capturing, storing, querying and analyzing provenance data for automatic discovery of enterprise process information. For example, a computer-implemented method for managing a process associated with an enterprise comprises the following steps. Data associated with an actual end-to-end execution of an enterprise process is collected. Provenance data is generated based on at least a portion of the collected data, wherein the provenance data is indicative of a lineage of one or more data items. A provenance graph that provides a visual representation of the generated provenance data is generated, wherein nodes of the graph represent records associated with the collected data and edges of the graph represent relations between the records. The generated provenance graph is stored in a repository for use in analyzing the enterprise process.

  • Patent number: 8443189
Abstract: An approach is provided for selecting one or more trust factors from trust factors included in a trust index repository. Thresholds are identified corresponding to one or more of the selected trust factors. Actions are identified to perform when the selected trust factors reach the corresponding threshold values. The identified thresholds, identified actions, and selected trust factors are stored in a data store. The selected trust factors are monitored by comparing one or more trust metadata scores with the stored identified thresholds. The stored identified actions that correspond to the selected trust factors are performed when one or more of the trust metadata scores reach the identified thresholds. At least one of the actions includes an event notification that is provided to a trust data consumer.

  • Patent number: 8370869
Abstract: Systems and methods for describing video content establish video description records which include an object set (24), an object hierarchy (26) and entity relation graphs (28). Video objects can include global objects, segment objects and local objects. The video objects are further defined by a number of features organized in classes, which in turn are further defined by a number of feature descriptors (36, 38, and 40). The relationships (44) between and among the objects in the object set (24) are defined by the object hierarchy (26) and entity relation graphs (28). The video description records provide a standard vehicle for describing the content and context of video information for subsequent access and processing by computer applications such as search engines, filters and archive systems.

  • Patent number: 8332422
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program for enabling parametric searches on source data using text search engine. The invention is generally divided into a build-time process and a run-time process. During the build-time process, a crawler extracts data units from source data. A data translator then translates data units into keyword parametric entries that are submitted to the text search engine. During the run-time process, a query translator translates parametric search queries into keyword search entries. A metatag refiner then filters intermediate search results from the search engine based on the parametric search query.

  • Patent number: 8290960
Abstract: An approach is provided for selecting a trust factor from trust factors that are included in a trust index repository. A trust metaphor is associated with the selected trust factor. The trust metaphor includes various context values. Range values are received and the trust metaphor, context values, and range values are associated with the selected trust factor. A request is received from a data consumer, the request corresponding to a trust factor metadata score that is associated with the selected trust factor. The trust factor metadata score is retrieved and matched with the range values. The matching results in one of the context values being selected based on the retrieved trust factor metadata score. The selected context value is then provided to the data consumer.
