  • Publication number: 20240091714
Abstract: A thin-film-composite hollow-fiber membrane includes a phase-inversion layer, which is in the form of a hollow fiber, and an active layer coated on the phase-inversion layer. The active layer selectively allows passage of water molecules but rejects at least some dissolved ions. The thin-film-composite hollow-fiber membrane can have an internal burst pressure of at least 4 MPa. In a method for forming the membrane, the polymer concentration in the spinning dope from which the hollow-fiber substrate is formed can have a polymer concentration no greater than 5% below the critical concentration.

  • Publication number: 20240061681
Abstract: A method of utilizing 3-level wHCSs created in the first generation to accommodate 3-level conveyer-integrated workgroups in a production facility to make these workgroups work collaboratively as one Task crew-entity is disclosed. By installing the 3-level 3-link-typed TeamProcessors in a 3-level wHCS with Task feedback-control operation-oriented OSs, Task operation programs and Task-operation and management libraries, a 3-level Task operation workgroup-computing Entity-oriented system, can be established to support the Task crew-entity as a whole and provide fine-grained-proactive closed-loop-problem-solving (PS) operations for external users, collaborators and supervisors in a real-time concurrent and secure manner, abiding by the self-improving solution-domain PS-principle.

  • Patent number: 11868813
Abstract: A workgroup-computing-entity-based fail-safe/evolvable hardware core structure is disclosed which includes a 3-hierarchical-level 6-workgroup-Basic-Building-Block (6-wBBB) created to supplant the node-computing-entity-based non-fail-safe/limited evolvable von-Neumann core structure of 3-hierarchical-level 3-node-BBB, (i.e., base-level IO-devices/mid-level main memory/top-level CPU) and all the first-time fail-safe workgroup systems can be subsequently generated in the second period along the workgroup-computing evolutionary timeline. Furthermore, based on the first 6-wBBB evolvable architecture, the workgroup evolutionary processes can go up to 7 generations in creating all the necessary workgroup-computing entity-based hardware core structures, so that all the real-time intelligent workgroup-computing systems can be generated in the third period along the workgroup-computing evolutionary timeline.

  • Publication number: 20150104800
Abstract: A method for authenticating a textile material that is initiated by selecting a unique nucleic acid marker having a specific length and a specific sequence. A media that causes the unique nucleic acid marker to adhere to a fibrous material is then selected. The method then proceeds to generate a nucleic acid marker mixture by mixing the media with the nucleic acid marker. The nucleic acid marker mixture is then applied to the fibrous material. A marked fibrous material is produced by marking the fibrous material with the nucleic acid marker. The textile material is manufactured with the marked fibrous material. The textile material is then authenticated by detecting the unique nucleic acid marker with primers that are specific to the unique nucleic acid. In an alternative embodiment, the media is used as a topical treatment for the fibrous material.

  • Patent number: 6715100
Abstract: A method and apparatus for implementing a workgroup server array ideal for web-based Intranet, Extranet and Internet applications. The inventive server array comprises a plurality of team/workgroup computers (408) equipped with work-group-based direct-access servers and modular controlling devices (1), creating workgroup-based fault-tolerant and fail-over capabilities, providing console-based monitoring and management support, and accommodating highly available and scalable web-based applications with optimal performance. These workgroup server arrays can be used as the basic building blocks to construct large-scale server clusters, so that more users can be served concurrently. Furthermore, workgroup-server-array-based architecture is created for building various highly available, scalable and mission critical server clusters, which enable distributed computing services for enerris-based Intranet, Extranet and Internet mission critical applications.

  • Publication number: 20040058374
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for mixing nucleic acid with a water insoluble medium and application thereof, specifically to a method for mixing nucleic acid solution in a water insoluble medium through the addition of an intermediate solution. The medium is an inert medium and is not deteriorative to nucleic acid, and the intermediate solution increases solubility between the nucleic acid solution and the water insoluble medium. The resulted water-insoluble medium containing nucleic acid is used to label solid or liquid substances or articles.

  • Patent number: 6049823
Abstract: An interactive television system that renders on-demand interactive multimedia services for a community of users. The interactive multimedia is delivered to each user on a TV or on a LAN-node (Local-Area-Network) computer through an "interactive TV channel" created and controlled by a Channel-processor, which can be implemented as either a PC or a high-end workstation. The system employs a direct-access on-demand workgroup server. It is equipped with the primary on-demand multimedia data base stored on a hard disk subsystem that is connected directly to the Channel-processors through an internal workgroup link. Using a no-overhead server technology, the connected workgrouped Channel-processors can all concurrently retrieve and process the data directly from the hard disk subsystem without resorting to a stand-alone server system for data retrieving and downloading.

  • Patent number: 5802391
Abstract: A system of computers having team/workgroup features built in. A typical hardware component thereof is a unitary chassis of a regular single IBM-PC tower-chassis footprint, designed to house electronics for up to four personal computers, all operating on a single power supply. The unitary chassis provides interconnecting cable for connecting up to four corresponding display terminals and keyboards, which all can be located at other dispersed locations. Each such computer provides a communication/device-sharing card, which may for example be a SCSI-II card providing data rate transfer at 10 Megabytes per second on a single SCSI-II cable. Furthermore, each computer comprises a CPU card and a monitor interface card, such as a VGA card. The invention is especially suited for configuration as a PC-based, multiple-CPU, multi-user workgroup system. Such workgroup systems are especially adapted for collaborative, multimedia and client-server computing for small workgroups.
